This Fuckin Drought, man!

Luke, we drove through many of the central corn states to Minnesota on vacation and all the corn fields are green. They are all on water sprinklers I think. The crops that are being lost are the ones not on a sprinkler systems. I will say though, I've one this same trip 20 years ago and I have NEVER seen this much corn fucking everywhere. Ridiculous. A boring drive made worse because all you see is corn, corn, corn, and you drive through little towns and they all have little corn booths selling sweet corn, what, the, fuck.

The real issue though is if this drought continues, will the water table get so low that the crops will be cut off from water? THAT is when the emergency will happen.

The Mississippi is still a few feet above the levels of 88 (Memphis). We all survived, somehow. I remember driving over it at St Louis, pretty amazing. Went across in 93 and it was a flood year, pretty amazing also.

Maybe it's trying to make up for last year.

Was in southern Iowa for a week and the corn there is fucked, most of my family had lost 50%+ of their crop this year. Drove north to MN and the corn was a lot better looking, so its bad but not a disaster.

I live in Cabo, which for those of you don't know is basically a desert that meets the ocean. It almost never rains here. I'm talking maybe a little rain, one day a year.

Well, the other day.. it rained.. and it rained hard. For 3 days. There was actually a river running through the complex:

Same in Europe, half continent is burning and half one under rain.
My concern is for the next fall and the massive blasting rains will come, with all this energy from the sun producing exceptional steam masses from the ocean.

Back up the truck...

1. Obomba is going to win by a LARGE landslide. It is NOT going to be close.

2. I've been saying that for a long time now. You must have only heard what you wanted to hear and thought I was proclaiming that Paul would definitely win. The truth is that Paul has no interest in winning, and shut down his campaign a long time ago despite a large surplus of campaign funds. :disgust:

The RNC later this month will be interesting because so many Paul fanatics are going to try to force him to become president, but Paul himself will continue to do everything within his power to squash that momentum. It's tragic, but such is life in america now.

And yes, I know my sig still says Paul 2012, but it's out of loyalty, not a freaking prognostication.

I never said Obama wasn't going to win by a large landslide. I was simply talking about the upcoming GOP nomination.

All I know is just a over a month ago you were convinced Paul would get the GOP nomination. It seems like you have a change of confidence now because you've moved on to other things like bitcoins and droughts.

So when are you planning on moving to Thailand? I remember you also mentioning that you intend on moving to Thailand if RP doesn't become president.

You should definately do that, because when Libertarian Party candidate Michael Badnarik didn't win the presidential election back in 2004, I voted with my feet and moved to Hong Kong.

It was the best decision I had made. So do it; move to Thailand.

Hmm, looking at it actually, might be worth going in on Wheat (the London one, seems the most stable: ETFS COMMODITY SECURITIES LIMITED ETFS WHEAT: LON:WEAT quotes & news - Google Finance) - generally seems to start going up in August, and then not dropping until March.

Worst case scenario (providing there's not heavy, unusual subsidisation lowering the price - personally, I'd set up SMS alerts to cover that scenario; if it did happen, then there should be a nice profit buying once it'd plummeted.) is it stays stable.
