This is scary

Christianity doesn't allow for forced conversion. In fact, Jesus said "He that lives by the sword will die by the sword".

So whoever committed violence during the Crusades or the Inquisition in the name of Christianity wasn't really a true Christian at all. They were impostors, smearing the name of the religion.

Think about that next time you mindlessly smear them yourself.
Perhaps you should think before you reply, as not only have you posted a quote that doesn't apply to the point that you've made, but you've flat out made your comment up... or have never read the bible.

And I'm not mindlessly smearing anyone. I recognize what faith *IS* and what it *ISN'T*. You, apparently, don't have the capability of making that association.

But we can pull those few cases and claim that Christianity isn't all high and mighty like you want to believe it is.

You keep proving your ignorance with every post.

Where have I said Christianity is all powerful, all high and mighty, and without extremists? Where?

You're basing your arguments on words you've put into my mouth. My statements have nothing to do with defending Christianity.

I'm not here to argue forced conversions in the Bible and other ancient texts, I'm here to make the point that modern Christianity is nowhere near as violent as modern Islam has come to be. You're arguing that all religion is equally bad. You are wrong. You are wrong because of PROVEN instances that happen over and over again. NOT a thousand years ago... today, in the world we live in.

Am I saying Christianity is void of killers, psychopaths, and child rapists? Not at all. But as a Christian nation we really don't have to deal with problems nearly as large as places otherwise.

Would you rather live in a Christian nation or a Muslim nation? The answer "neither" doesn't apply, because it's not part of the question.

The fact that you think "neither" isn't a valid response.....is the problem.

I don't want to live in eitherand I don't have to!

You say as a Christian nation we really don't have to deal with problems nearly as large as places otherwise.

How about I move to Norway. All of a sudden "neither" is a valid response. (We don't even have to talk hypothetically, Norway is here, now, peacful, and atheist.) Upwards of 70% of Norway is atheist and The Global Peace Index rates Norway the most peaceful country in the world.

How the fuck do you explain that? ^

Now what if 70% of the world was atheist... I'm guessing worldwide peace would go up.

An atheist nation. Can you imagine?

Can you imagine 100% of the world being atheist?

----------------

All lies! Stereotypes, BS! Where?????

It's not a valid response NOT because it's not possible - just because it's not part of the question (and my point).

hahaha That argument is hilarious ^^. Mother effer stop using damned italics so much, I can't get out of typing like this now.

I explain that by saying nobody cares about Norway. You can't say Norway is peaceful because they're 70% atheist. They're peaceful because they're in no man's land and aren't a world power.

Do you know how many highly ranked "peaceful nations" have the majority of the population believing in a religion?

Just because one country is peaceful and atheist doesn't mean atheism leads to a peaceful country. Religion can lead to peaceful countries as well.

This is ridiculous.

Please quit arguing with me.

Your right. You 100% right. Seriously.

I lose, you win. Don't respond.

Wow. Just wow.

What? You can't attribute that atheism is the cause of Norway being peaceful. The Middle East is ridden with turmoil because of religion and war - yes. The US is ridden with turmoil because we are the United States - world superpower - not because the majority of the US is religious.

What's ridiculous is you claiming atheism is the reason Norway is peaceful.

Would you like me to pull statistics of peaceful nations that have a common religion?

I absolutely do not want you to do that. Please don't. I SURRENDER. My brain isn't worth it. :blistering continues:

I really do want to end this. We could die if we continue.

Or it can lead to the middle east. But I digress. I really want to stop arguing with you.

Yes, it can. And it has seriously fucked the Middle East. But claiming that the world would be peaceful if everyone were atheist is just absurd. There will always be greed and lust for power, and there will always be killing in the name of it. Religion is just an excuse for these people to commit crimes like that. People who do that are extremists. We're not even talking about general religion anymore, we're focusing directly on extremists.

What if the world weren't rid of all religion, just the extremists who use forcefulness and violence? I'm a single example of someone religious who would NEVER harm or kill anybody in the name of what I believe in. What if everyone was that way? They're not, that's not how the world works, but if you want to look into theoretical worlds of 100% atheism, I'd like to look at a theoretical world of peaceful Christians, Buddhists, etc.

:) You're right. :) It's clear to me now. I've already got my bible back out. I'm looking through it now. This is so great. Everything is so clear now. Thank you! Appreciate it, thanks. Exactly! Uh huh. Yeah! Woot! Wooooohooooo! The world has been saved! Everyone! We're going to be OK. Everything is OK.

Who heard Jesus say that? You can say "the bible claimed" or whatever but I think we can all agree that you can't directly fucking quote something that has no proof of ever being said.

I just read through this thread and don't really have time to provide a full response, but you are really just one of the worst fucking people on this forum.

Look, I don't want to sound like a hippie (not that it's a bad thing) but arguments like these go nowhere. We should be open minded and respectful of people's beliefs. Every belief has its extremists... not because the religion or whatever calls for it but because of the individual's will to act on it. People jumping to conclusions and smearing other people's beliefs are just ignorant and uninformed.

omg this thread is super long
aniway i think Muslims are dangerous.
we have the coolest president in the world and is not Muslim for sure

Sigh, people like you are the reason the USA is in this mess right now.
