I'm not really sure if alcohol is odorless, but even if it is, it doesn't mean that it won't create an effect on the body that will cause it to produce odors that are recognizable as drinking odors.
I too am against how they go about figuring DUIs. Yes, odor can't be used in a scientific way to convict someone in court. But we aren't in court now.

Generally, UK police (can't comment on Aussie police, but Australia seems pretty similar to here) are like this. It doesn't make sense to get aggressive, you just get drunk people who hit back (and therefore require more paperwork, a court date, a van, give you a nasty bruise, etc) and are more aggressive and won't talk for the rest of the interaction. If the person's physically aggressive from the start, sure, but generally they won't get physical unless the other person does.
If you're ever over here, feel free to ask a policeman if you can put on his hat for a photo. 99.9% of the time they'll let you and pose with you. I'd estimate that a fairly good proportion of police work here is helping people with directions.
False. In North Carolina you can be arrested and prosecuted for DUI for just suspicion of driving. Meaning they don't have to witness it personally.

I watched my friend get a DUI just because it was his car. We were drinking at third beach (Vancouver) in front of the car. We had a dd but they just picked on my buddy who was drinking. Could also be cause he had 5 DUI already. They suspended his license but forgot to take it away. So he ha that turned over because they did not take it away when they should have. Lol

Yea, they're actually pretty cool.
But, the homes up here are mostly $300k+, and it's a small town, so not sure how the typical douchebag cop attitudes would fly around here. There aren't a lot of minorities or white trash for the cops to fuck with. And in all fairness to the cops, there aren't a lot of white trash or minorities to fuck with the cops and piss them off. Their daily work involves responding to breakins by wildlife and speeding tickets, so the cops are probably a lot more at ease for that reason.
