I know of at least 6 posters (myself included) that do very well but don't feel like "giving back" to a bunch of retards that would rather post gay sex pictures than talk about business.

And all this talk about NickyCakes is the result of the shitstorm this forum has become.

Most of the major trolling posters are just pissed they can't turn this forum completely into 4Chan.

Think about what you're complaining about: a moderator is making an attempt to keep a marketing forum at least a little on track and on focus.

But rather than make a new post helping others or at least asking a marketing question that will spark discussion, you're making two dozen useless poll threads that do nothing more than suck his e-penis.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: This forum is filled almost completely with retarded children that wonder why they don't make any goddamn money.

The exceptions rarely post and when they do, they don't feel like posting anything very useful because the signal-to-noise ratio will ensure anything good will quickly be drowned out by fucktards posting bullshit.

Yeah, WF was pretty cool at one time and what made it cool was its lax, I-dont-give-a-fuck attitude but at some point the marketing talk on the forum was overrun with nothing but bullshit.

And I'm not saying I'm exempt: I've started arguments, posted silly pictures, etc. but when someone had a real question that I had a real answer to, I chimed in with some good stuff.

If there were more of that kind of talk, then I'd chime in a lot more. Some of the posters you guys troll regularly are smart as hell and doing very, very well for themselves in this business you're struggling in.

Yet you'd rather call them a "nigger" or a "fag" and post another stupid gay sex picture than to actually engage in an actual conversation.

This is why you're fucking broke.

A little - moreso back in the day. But the overrun of bullshit and bickering in STS all-but-negated people scrolling down to the actual marketing-related forums.

Perhaps STS should be at the bottom of the home page instead of the top? I'm not sure. I don't have the answers on how to fix the forum. Just posting my observations on what I see killing (killed?) it.
 
why not divide sts into two sub sections, one where people can troll, bullshit and waste time and another for actual industry related discussion?

U wanna compare schedule C's? Bottom line is instead of bitching about it do something about it and start a worthwhile conversation WF is like school children and will change targets after a few days of boredom. Other than STS how many cakes threads are in the other sections? Not to many if any, so if you want more engaging conversation perhaps you try a diff section of WF. That or do what the rest do and use Skype for the real meat and potatoes

Why are peoples posts directly related to how much they make? Is that why all the active/thread starters are "super ballers"? Do I need 6K posts to join the club - or show a bank receipt?

Jeezus guys, let it fucking go, bunch of whiny little trolls bitching that a mod actually tried to clean things up, and all the sudden they think their cherished right to act like racist jerk-offs are being stepped on, so they decide to spend all their time shitting on the forum, insulting him, bumping and starting stupid polls, and basically fucking it up for everyone else and driving away the people that could actually help their businesses. Go back to 4chan or screaming racial shit on Xbox online in your parent's basement, some people are actually here to do business.

I have made, quite literally, hundreds of thousands of dollars in the last 3 years of information I learned, and more importantly contacts i have made, from Wickedfire. You could actually be contributing something useful with this time, and making the forum better, but instead the real contributing members have to deal with this idiotic behavior. I hate to see all this crap where people think they should spend all their time trying to dickroll people, insulting anyone who posts something relevant or a real question, and instead clog up the entire forum for every one. Nobody who's making any money is wasting their time doing this kind of shit, so ask yourself what's more important? Are you here to learn something, make some connections, and be part of a community that may actually help you out, or are you here to just be an annoying broke prick? I know one thing for sure, nobody that is actually getting paid on this forum is wasting their time doing this shit, so which camp do you want to be in?

I was a member here when you joined in 07. I didn't post much. Read a lot. Mostly a lurker. Stopped coming around altogether in early 09.

When I came back to peruse last year, I couldn't remember my old password and had signed up with an email address tied to a domain I let drop so I made a new account.

There wasn't a need to broadcast myself as "formerly [old username]" because it had less than 50 or so posts in the ~3 years or so (late 06 to early 09) previous. No one would have recognized it. I never even had an avatar before.
 
Shooting the shit was never really the place for serious conversation in the first place. There are several sections here where that can take place, and often does.


Everyone's got their panties in a bunch this past week. Just relax, it will blow over, everyone will get tired and bored of the current bullshit and shit will go back to normal (whatever that is)

I agree all this nonsense has been annoying, but if you're looking for more from this forum, browse the other sections.
Shooting the shit is a cesspool. Not sure why you are trying to force it to be something it's not.

You're 100% right but with all due respect, I want to make sure that what I'm trying to say is coming across correctly:

I'm not trying to change STS. It is what it is and has served for many hours of entertainment with (at least somewhat) like-minded people when winding down from the work hours.

And unless I'm mistaken...the message wasn't really targeted at you because you (from what I've gathered) have your shit together.

The thread was more targeted towards the new(ish?) guys that came to this forum with a purpose - to learn. But once they found STS and how it is, they somehow believed that environment is how business (online or off) actually is.

Instead of learning and/or building, they spend their hours refreshing, arguing, dickrolling, etc.

If nothing else, it was just a warning. You and I - we've been there before. Now, we're at a more comfortable place in our business. We've got it pretty well figured out.

It's the new guys I'm trying to impart a little "tough love" on. It seems that those are the ones that are making the biggest fuss over the recent bullshit but are also the ones that are likely to be less where they want to be in their business.

Everyone is free to do with their time with which they want and I'm not losing any sleep over some newbie not making money but I felt compelled to at least put something up to hopefully remind a few people that there are more important things to do online than to call NickyCakes a fascist cunt for deleting a few unimportant threads.
 
tldr;

post 10K-15K words about why others are broke which has nothing to do with STS and more to do w people's basic inability to take action but blaming it on people and dickrolling.
