Up To 45K To Spend On Car: What to Get?

2008 lotus Elise--- don't know much about cars but i always thought these were cool (don't see much of them around)

He asked for suggestions on a selection of cars in that price range. If he needed personal economic advice he'd ask an accountant, not a bunch of random people in a forum.

I'm sure most people here don't know anything about OP's bank balance and financial situation, certainly not enough to give advice which basically tells him not to bother.

Fuck it dude, just buy a pushbike. Think of how much you'll save from the lower depreciation and no fuel costs.

Nobody's giving him "personal economic advice." Some posters simply reminded him that the *true* cost of a 15 year old high end sports car is much higher than the purchase price. And we don't need to know anything about his bank balance or financial situation because he gave us a budget. With a 45k budget, buying a 1997 Ferrari 355 is plain dumb.

Rock the Pontiac G8 GXP. Great looking car, 4 door, 415 hp and 415 tq. rear wheel drive. Epic fucking car.

I thought Pontiac is no longer a business.

Anyway, just saw this on Top Gear, and it looks amazing.

Dunno what used prices are like where you are but you can probably just get an aston vantage for that money

One of my friends has one of these and I was out in it on Sunday, I didn't rate the seats very highly. I started to find them uncomfortable for only a 30 minute car ride.

But I'm 6ft 3" so maybe that has something to do with it.

I cry a little inside when I read threads about how cheap cars are in the States. A 15 year old 355 is still 130-175k over here.

I would have a convertible Aston in a heartbeat for what I'm paying on my current lease.

Subaru WRX STI, at 35K. Add a larger turbo, new intake, new exhaust and you're looking at a 350 or 400 hp, all wheel drive, 3400lb car. Out of the box it'll do 0-60 in 5 flat and the quarter at 13.5 or so, and that's with the 305hp stock motor.

after reading all these threads i'm realizing a lot of you are amateurs when it comes to cars...

ppl telling him to get a Pontiac G8 or an STI, wtf are you smoking? Pontiac isn't even in business anymore lol

This guys wants a luxury car, a car people gawk and "ooh and awe" over. He doesn't want some ricer STI that he has to install bigger turbos on to get INSANE WHP!!! He want's class, performance, and appearance.

OP, you have 45k ... I look at cars online all the time so i know the market, and i realize the type of image a car represents. Also, i'm like you, looking for something classy, fast, and sexy. Not a car that i see on the road every day, unless i'm in Beverly Hills or something.

Here are my suggestions in this order & my logic:

2001 Porsche 911 Turbo - Sexy as fuck, and a true contender in the sports car world - doesn't get much better unless your going for a lambo or ferrari

2008 BMW M3 - The "ultimate" ultimate driving machine. Take the performance of the 911 and mix it together with the practicality of a BMW and you get the M3. Hot looking car, lightest V8 engine ever, push one button and get 100 extra HPs. Great daily driver

2008 BMW M5
- V10! Gangster, 4 door if your into that type of thing. Subtle, but a head turner for anyone that knows anything about cars.

2007 Jaguar XKR - The only reason I don't have this higher is because I think the 2010/11's look way more aggressive than the 07's. This year is still nice, but look at a 2011 if you want your jaw to hit the ground.

2009 Mercedes C63 AMG - V8 Beast. Aggresive, practical, it's a C Class on steroids. For some reason I see a lot of Asians with these cars, so if your Asian it might be a good fit

2006 BMW M6 - Fast. sexy. M. BMW. They're kind of played out IMO. I see a lot of them so that's a turn off for me.

!!!!!!Money Saver BONUS!!!!!!

2008 BMW 335i - Twin Turbo i6 - one of the best engines BMW has ever built. Better gas mileage, V8 performance, no turbo lag, 300hp @ 7psi (standard boost), luxury, & performance, save $10,000. If you were worried about performance, get a Dinan chip, re flash your ECU (no work) and get 400+ HP will all stock parts and smoke the M3. One of my personal favs.

P.S. This is why i want to own a luxury used car lot

If you fancy a muscle care then you should definitely go with a mustang or a camaro. Or maybe a Nissan Skyline GTR. Thats a pretty sickk car.
