What's the personality required to run a company that size? Define it and I'll find a successful CEO that counters it.

CEO's vary immensely. They have a number of common traits, but you have everything from the most secretive introverted "you never hear of him" CEO's to the guys that go to all the events and think they're "the one".

The thing that amuses me with commentaries like this is that everyone automatically assumes they are better at making decisions about who should lead Google than the Google board.

The board that to date has built one of the most successful companies in the world.

The board that provided the ecosystem most of this forum still use to make money online.
 


Find a small public company with quality products backed by a billionaire. For instance, Castle Brands (ROX) is the company behind several spirits brands including Gosling's Rum (Dark & Stormy) and Jefferson Bourbon. The main backer (43 million shares) is Dr. Philip Frost who has a long track record of success.

Maybe maybe not.

HD Video traffic costs a fortune to deliver, and the value of advertising will probably never compare to "search search". You can sell ads on big websites sure, but you cant argue with the fundamental value of the traffic. The reason search kills it so hard for them is because the visitors have major league value compared to traditional traffic.
