What Goes Into a "Good" Dating LP?

I'm trying my hand at more paid traffic and I'm slowly getting it I think. My biggest obstacles right now are landing pages and getting ads approved at POF/Facebook. That being said, the hardest part for me by far is the landing page issue.

Here's what I've been trying so far:

*Geolocation, i.e. "399 Hot Babes Near XYZ"
*Trying/attempting to hit emotional triggers, i.e. "Tired of being alone and whatnot?"
*Continuity, i.e. - my LP resembles the final offer's page almost identically.

None of this seems to be getting me very good results though. Any suggestions on what else I could try to implement? Transitioning to paid traffic from SEO is almost like relearning IM--it fucking blows. Thanks in advance for any help!
 


Actually yes, direct linking is usually the best way. What are working for others? usually POF is the better way to start, facebook can become very frustrating.
 
if your copy is generic or ripped from other affiliates, you'll get raped without a good LP. if you're creative w/ copy, direct linking will always convert higher.
 
on POF i have better luck with landing pages personally. really simple though, some pictures and call out the user attributes that got them to click in the first place.

You are already doing it wrong and your very far from close
 
On Facebook and POF just go with direct links man. At least until you totally understand the traffic.

Building a lander at this stage will just be an unnecessary headache for you. It WILL end up costing you clicks and cash.

Don't do it.

And for other sources like Adwords that you do need lander for, it's a pretty safe bet that your payouts aren't going to be high enough to play in that pool for a while. It will take you at least 4 to 6 months of stellar conversion history to be ready to do that. Even then, only certain dating offers can do it.

So, in short, keep it simple, grab those links and go.

I can say for a fact that we have, and Neverblue has, several dating offers with enough targeted landing pages covering every demographic for you to direct link with confidence. Start with that first.

Thanks a lot for going a bit more in depth with this for me, this helps a lot.

I'm avoiding LPs now for POF/FB and we'll see how it goes, this will definitely make it easier... thanks for the input again everyone.

Yea I usually test the LP last. Typically I go in this order

1. Image
2. Headlines
3. Body Text
4. Targeting specifics
5. Landing Page

Image is the most important thing, I will test 50-75 initially. Sometimes I need to test 150+ to find a bunch that convert.

Don't disregard landing pages altogether though. Once you got the other stuff down just test a bunch of different designs. Then test headlines, images, pop ups, timers ect. It's all about finding that right mix of elements. And remember that every offer is different and males + females in the same offer can yield drastically different results.
 
I think it was ftc-hater that dropped some serious knowledge with a great LP + funnel example in the facebook thread. Go search for it... if I remember right it was even specific to dating.

Really...Direct linking always convert better when using creative ads not copied from others on PoF?

Since posting I've direct linked to a dating offer on Facebook, all ads approved and getting good CTRs but not even breaking even (not even close). Still trying though :thumbsup: (Current stats: 111 clicks, 1 conversion)

Looks like a bunch of curiosity clicks or poor demo targeting
..or poor day parting.
What kind of ctr's are you seeing?

Perhaps its just a shite offer, ask your am how it's performing for that traffic source

Headline attracts, adcopy sells. Maybe you're just generating a lot of curiosity without actually telling people what to expect?
