Spend as much as you can on a great quality mattress.

Amazing how some people will shell out $40K for a vehicle they only use ~1 hour a day, but balk at spending $4K on a bed they sleep on for ~8 hours a day.

So very very true. But looking at things like this reveals the true reason people are willing to spend 40k on a vehicle in the first place, image. People are always reluctant to spend money on something that no one else will be able to tell they spent lots of money on.

Undeniable logic right there.

EDIT: another thing to consider about the memory foam that people are recommending. Yes it's comfortable but it's hot as hell. Especially if you are the type of person that runs hot to begin with. And I'm actually a cold natured person, but I can barely sleep with a sheet on a tempurpedic and I like my comforters.

My hubby and I would second this. If you sleep with anyone you need to seriously look into these. I'm a flopper (according to hubby) I bounce and flip all night and he would bounce and flip right along with me. Then when we were in Vail for a wedding we slept in a nice resort with this mattress that was like sleeping on heaven. He said he never felt me move all night (and while maybe I did move less cause it was so comfortable, you can't keep a flopper down!!) They had a little brochure next to the mattress that said something like "Bet you slept really well and want to know what mattress you're sleeping on" (talk about fantastic marketing) We went straight home and bought what the brochure said : The Do Not Disturb Collection

Hotel beds are the shit, aren' they? Thanks for the link.

go to the matteress store and lay down on one first. I used to sell mattresses too. people either loved these tempurpedic mattresses or they hated them. not much in between. and they always knew as soon as they lay down on them.

simmons beautyrest exceptionale or world class are awesome. I had a 50% discount and went with one of these and it's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on.

i was thinking of getting the tempurpedic, are they worth the $? anyone here have one? Ill spend anything if the bed is worth it, 1/3 of my day is spent in bed, might as well be comfortable

Sterns & Foster all the way. We bought one of those tempurpedic ones and hated it. It was good for the first few minutes but after you have "sunk" in it was hard as a rock. We returned it right away.
Next we tried a seally and eventually we ended up with a S&F. I will only have a S&F from now on.

Just my opinion.

If you've ever stayed at the Westin you know they have a reputation for their Heavenly Bed. (rebadged Simmons Beautyrest).

You can order them online and find 40% online coupon codes which make them cheaper than a Simmons Beautyrest. Official W Hotels Bed Thread - Discount Code - 40% OFF!

The one from W Hotels store actually has a few more coils than the BR classic line.

Don't forget, you can get the best mattress money can buy, but if your sheets and comforter suck, it won't be worth it. The sheets make a HUGE difference as well, so get some serious thread count.

Love my temperpedic, was very expensive at 3k but worth it. The higher end ones do a good job at limiting heat (I sleep comfortably) and have more temper material so you don't sick through to the harder foam. great bed.

We just bought a king this Spring, paid $3800 for the mattress/box and $2K for the bedframe. Best thing that could have happened to our marriage!

thats because a car is a status symbol and not many people see ones bed.

Foam FTW!!

Get a tempurpedic grand bed ($6,299), which is the maybach of mattresses and try it for 90-days. If you don't like it, they'll take it back with no questions asked and then you can start exploring inner spring mattresses. People that complain about the mattress sinking are usually the ones that purchase the bare bone models with just one slap of foam. Your room temperature and body heat transmission has a lot to do with the conformity of the mattress (bed sheets and clothing worn while sleeping). If you sleep with just boxers on like me, tempurpedic should be fine.

Make sure to purchase it through their corporate site as stores like sleepys offer only 21 days and ebay sellers are usually selling fake rebranded aftermarket foam beds. Give the bed a 20-30 day break-in period and you should be able to experience the full potential of the tempurpedic.

Side sleepers = nothing beats foam, especially if you have broad shoulders.
Back sleepers = anything firm will work.
Stomach sleepers = consider changing position dawg.

BTW, S&F is owned by Sealy's.

mattresses? ... why dont u pussies get a real bed...

Be a real man and sleep on the floor or japanese style or sometimes even sleep legs crossed indian style sitting up focused on total mediation for only 3 hours. That all the rest you need. The Bed is only used when my girlfriend comes over and there ant no sleepin

Lay down on every mattress you can find and buy the one that's comfortable to you. Don't pay any attention to brand and don't pay attention to price (as long as it's in your budget). There's nothing saying a $6k mattress will be more comfortable to you than a $200 one.
