What the hell, here's my noob journal

hey thanks.. Great reading this thread. Keep us updated.. !! One more thing. Have you again added more SB lately? Have you followed the same thing and blasted them with Xrumer?

I got to position #9 for my main keyword, after buying red virus' service. I then thought what the hell and blasted my site homepage with 20k AA comments, but strangely it didn't have any effect, good or bad, on my rankings. Blasting comments with xrumer : I tried it, got close to no result so no I won't do it again.

how many visitors are you getting now for site #1?
It was first 2, then 20 and now?

Still around 15-20 a day, rankings didn't move lately and I'm wondering what kind of link I could add to make it go up in the rankings.

OK, so here is another update :

Remember my second site, the one I blasted with 200k comments ? It is now number 2 in google for it's main keyword and a variant, and number 1 in bing. Apart from the blast, the only thing I did was order bbleo's linkwheel. I'm running a CPA offer on it, getting some clicks but no luck with conversions yet. I'm also number 50 for another keyword with lots of monthly searches (like 40k a month) that would convert better I think. So I'll try to rank for it and see what happens.

After trying lots of stuff, I'm getting a better idea on what works and what doesn't in term of link building.

I also got ubot to automate stuff, as buying link building services every time gets expensive FAST. I'm learning how to use it right now and building my first social bookmarking bot :music06:

Hey all, just came back from vacation, it was golden week holidays here in Japan.

Here is a quick update:

Ordered the April linkwheel of bbleo, blasted it with 5000 profiles, and horror : after disappearing for some days, my site came back and lost around 10 positions for it's main keyword (now on bottom of page 2). Keywords 2 3 and 4 aren't ranking for the main page anymore.
I wonder what went wrong here. Maybe it's my site that just came out of the honeymoon period. Or maybe it's anchor over-optimization. Or too many profiles for 50 links. I have no idea and would like to get some insight about this.

My second site is still ranking fairly well for it's main keyword (#2 on google) and got it's first sale : a fabulous 1,5 euro. Fucking wow. I still have to optimize this site : add more content, try to rank for other keywords and build more links.

I won't do much till the end of the month : I will be moving closer to my work, so my commute time will shrink from 4 hours a day to 1 hour. Right now commuting is killing me and I don't have much energy to do shit right now. I'll start really hustling from June.

I really need to update this more, sorry guys.

I didn't add any links nor content to both sites, and they didn't move a bit since my last update.
I'm down to around 5 visits a day on my first site and around 30 to my second. Dropping to the 19th position for my first site hit it hard, and I don't know how much work I should do on it, or if I should drop it.

My second site got immediately to 2nd place in google after a huge blog comment blast + bbleo's package. It got 2 sales since I made it. I know it's going to pay for itself even if I don't touch it anymore, but I will continue targeting other keywords and adding content for this one because a lot of keywords around the theme of the site are quite interesting traffic wise.

BTW, one of my older sites, on which I didn't do anything much SEO-related, got some serious authority or some shit because it's getting 5000 views a day, and I was struggling to get it to 2000 views a day like last month. This site is totally white hat, with 250 posts of original quality content and it's getting me like 1000-1500 dollars a month, and I'm like only spending 1 hour a week writing content, absolutely no link-building on my side but getting lots of link love from other bloggers.

Thinking about me made me realize that I maybe was looking on SEO/affiliate the wrong way. From now on, I will concentrate on building more authoritative sites with lots of quality content. Spending 1 hour a week to write 2/3 articles is not that hard and is a really good working long time strategy. To that, I'll add some links, bookmarks and shit to get more ranking love from the big G.

Quick update :

My first site isn't ranking for any keyword anymore for the main page. I'm still getting traffic from wikipedia and bing/yahoo maybe but that's about it.

My second site has been converting great lately, I absolutely need to develop it further.

Finally moving this week, I will have more time to do stuff. At least...

Scrap some content from youtube / twitter etc and display it on your website, plus a mix of comments from authoritative website. It may help you.

seems you'r learning a lot, keep the thread update.

Hey kultissim, thanks for the props and the advice.

I finally moved closer to my work, which reduced my daily commute time to half the time, so here's a little update.

First site : still doesn't rank for the main page, must have been sandboxed. The keywords rank around position 50 to 80 on other minor pages. Money made till now : 25 euros (around 30$)

Second site : ranks well for its main kw, 2nd on google and 1st on bing. Getting around 30 PV a day. Made around 22 euros (25$) in May, but they still didn't get confirmed so don't know what I should do with it for now. If the money gets approved, I'll build a lot more content.

Third site: didn't talk much about it here but that's because it's a site I made way before this noob journal. It's a blog about SEO/wordpress/affiliate stuff in Japanese, where I write good useful content, that I promote socially. Didn't do much SEO stuff besides on-page SEO and didn't expect it to become a money-maker. But what do you know : got 6 commissions in May for Elegant Themes, so 115$ more in my paypal pocket. Will definitely work more on this as Japanese SEO people are all licking Matt Cutt's ass and have no clue about how to rank shit the dark and quick way.
