What to do when the big war hits?

On the blockchain
There are a myriad of threads around here that give reasons as to why a major War might hit homeland USA one day soon.

It could be a Chinese invasion, it could be Civil War II, it could be the mother of all market crashes, it could be the ultimate war between google and facebook, it could be a lack of resources/food/virgins/spam whatever that brings us into an apocolyptic situation...

Whatever it may be, when the bombs start dropping, what do you plan to do? Let's assume:

1. If you stay you have to find a way to defend yourself & your family from something.

2. Europe, Oz, and all 1st-world nations are kind of fucked to; so if you run you have to run you take the chance of having no luxury left anywhere to run to.

3. The US of A no longer exists. Washington DC is a smoking crater.

4. Some nukes may have been dropped but most of the nation's structures are intact. You can likely drive your car some places if you can find gas.

What would be your plan? Where would you go? What are your priorities?
 


it's funny I was just reading about blimps that can stay up in the air for 15 years ;)
 
Hang out in a cabin in the Rocky Mountains in NW Canada, and enjoy the tranquility of nature. Can't see any war happening out there. Would be a little rough getting back into it, but I know my shit when it comes to outdoor survival, so I'm pretty sure I'd be ok living off the land. Hopefully I'll be able to get myself some solar panels, satellite internet, and the likes as well.

A bit hard to keep 15 years worth of food and water on them though. :/

Would you try to run for Japan or somewhere you'd been before far away?

NW Canada? I hear that shit gets cold at times... Why not down range a bit, say, Colorado?
 
Realistically most everyone here could not be self sufficient for very long especially if you had to worry about family members.

I think it would be easier to stay in the cities and bunker down a bit. There would be martial law or some warlord running the city probably and people are basically civil for the most part.

I might have stockpilied ammo in several main calibers and lots of water and simple foods but I think that would be easier than trying to live off the land.

Also if thousands of people had the same idea very soon there would be no wild game or fish in the lakes. Even going to a stream or lake would be quite dangerous.

no, but it can go up and down, it's not like you have to stay up in the air the whole time :)

Plus it CAN be as long as 15 years, you can stay up for 2-3 years if you wanted to. Consumer versions are coming out soon btw. Proper term is airships, check the "Present-Day research" Airship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm into the whole paragliding flying thing, so this would be right up my alley
 
Honestly, it depends on the situtation. You'd have to be prepped with food, water, weapons, etc either way. If not, its going to limit your options, whether you can stay and fight, or move around.

If it were an invasion, i'd fight and coordinate with local troops, etc. An invasion would limit the ability to run, bceause everyone is going to be locked down.

If it were like zombies, a nuke, or something like that, where my priorities are to escape/evade/run - i'd make my way to the nearest marina and grab a boat and GTFO.

You can find me on an island, chiiiillin in south America.

I live near water (i'm in FL), so being able to make my way to a boat is rather easy, compared to people more inland in the US, where their options are limited to flying/driving. Then again, east coast would be a prime target, and florida would be an extremely easy target to sink.

Then Plan C.

Because I don't want to worry about radiation, biological & chemical weapons, etc. If there's a huge world war, you can be guaranteed the US will be right in the middle of it. No way the US is going to miss out on the fun of a huge war.

Why would they call us? South Korea could kick N. Korea's ass and NK has been flouting Chinese "diplomatic consulting" for the last decade. They've lost all the goodwill they had stored up with China, and China is already only barely containing publication of their collapsing control over the urban populations.

Easy as fuck to answer this question... we all work ONLINE, which means we can move anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. I'll take all my peeps and GTFO. Somewhere in a warm country and keep living it up!
 
well me and my friend already got the zombie one planned out.

1. breakout happens
2. obtain (steal) a uhaul
3. go to "gone fishing" store obtain (steal) guns + ammunition
4. go to "wholesale sportstore" obtain (steal) a truly large amount of guns + ammunition
5. go to costco - perfect strong metal building with minimal entrances (no windows) - plenty of sustenance
6. secure costco - smoke some reefer
7. climb on roof of costco - shoot zombies
8. get rich, bang bitch

I know ya'll are gonna copy my and my friends zombie outbreak blueprint - but no need to thank us - its what we do.

That's a damn scary thought... We've made the wildlife too small now for millions of people to eat anymore. -No point running to the woods or mountains; ppl already there are eating all the wildlife before you arrive.

I guess that leaves the sea for me then. I'd therefore try to 'commandeer' a Yacht and go find a remote, fortifiable island.

What would you be fighting for tho? To keep the land you're on called America? If the enemy is China then they'll outnumber us 4 to 1 at least... And with DC gone already, there isn't much to fight for.

That'll take a shitload of fish and pipes to eat from... Not to mention the smell.

At epcot they've got a large one of these on display with hundreds of Tilapia in the tanks. I guess if you're near orlando when the bomb drops, head into epcot's "The Land" and you'll be sustainable for decades.
