Guys,

I'm a dev and designer and for the last year I've been learning more about marketing as a specialty. So, please excuse the novice-level question I'll be asking.

My wife had started a military spouse blog community at Military Wives Online Community | Not So Overly Sensitive. I was going to help her more, but I just don't have the time, and I wanted her to get her own feet wet. She's since taken on other things, and has written off this project. I'm curious if it has any potential to sell? I just listed it in flippa, but I have no idea how to valuate the site since I've never sold one in the past.

Any feedback is appreciated. I'm not advertising that this site is for sale. I'm just looking for any input on what you'd value the site at.

1. That is an extremely competitive niche dominated by a dozen or so power-bloggers
2. How much traffic does it get?
3. Pagerank of the homepage?
4. Any earnings?
5. How many unique articles posted?
6. On a good note, the domain name is awesome

The Flippa link is here: https://flippa.com/2816634-military-wives-online-magazine-and-community and you'll notice I set a price, but I truly don't know if it's ridiculous or a bargain.

Highest peak of traffic was 15k in July. Site purchased in Feb 2012, launched in May, has 200 something pages indexed with more than half of those beings unique articles. This web site is shit in terms of SEO but she had quite a following from the spouse community and Facebook. I didn't touch the thing other than help her setup the theme and a few basic plugins. I was honestly hoping she was onto soemthing, and it would've been a great learning experience for her, but it just sapped time and I didn't have time to figure out how to monetize it. Adsense and/or AM aren't my specialty, but I felt like this could be turned into an awesome deal for someone with the know-how and this is a great vertical, imo.

Is my asking price ridic or is it too low? ($600 starting bid, $1,200 buy out)

You might want to remove adsense from the site while it's for sale. There is a good chance you'll get a lot of click fraud and risk losing your account.

This. Also, I'd value it @ domain, maybe a touch more since it's got a bit of content. No more though.

Just a bit of advice - always put your starting price at $1. It attracts bids, which attracts bids, which attracts bids...you see where I'm going with this right? Nothing like a bidding war to get more than you deserve for a site.

Any good reads regarding site valuation? Let this be an example of how not to value and attempt to sell a site.

I like that theme. I just bought the same one a few weeks ago for a project. Hope you make a few bucks on your sale.

The site is less than 1yr old, doesn't rank for any particular phrases that are worth $$ and it's has basically zero revenue. The one thing it does have is unique content so I would really be focusing on that in the description of the auction.

As already mentioned above, you really need to start at $1 with a site like this. Honestly, I'd be shocked if anyone on flippa paid $600.

The Flippa blog has a ton of "how to sell my site" type posts... here is one of many that will help you out.

Usually a site sells for 12 x months revenue...it can even reach 56x months revenue if it has huge potential...however, you should concentrate on the unique articles that are written on your website, as there's no revenue to claim.

wait...you've got a blog that gets 15k visits from women a month, and you haven't tried to run some diet offers on it?

Im not a knowledgeable AM and my time doesnt allot for fumbling around in that arena atm. Maybe I should've teamed up with someone. Still should?
