It's not secret, and I've never been one to deny it.
I'm Jewish.
(We prefer to be called Jewish, not a Jew, but I don't care really, it's just something others seem to care about)
Happy Purim to those who celebrated it late last week! It's a Jewish holiday.. and included a fast day, as usual. We're always mourning! BAH!
Passover is coming up, and I hate that holiday the most. Those damn Matzahs make you all constipated and you want nothing more than to eat pizza or bread during the whole holiday. It's one of the few holidays I actually keep, for the most part still.
Anyone else celebrate these holidays?
Here's a better question for you fellow Jews.. who here keeps kosher and/or Shabbos?? Did you grow up being religious or forced, or did you get into it later in life, on your own terms?
I was raised Modern Orthodox and attended a Jewish prep school until HS, so I know all of the laws, rules and traditions. I just choose not to follow any of them anymore. I can also understand Hebrew fluently, read and write it, but speaking it has always been tough, so I tend to assume the person understands English, and answer them back in it. I also know a bit of Yiddish and German.
I'm definitely not a believer in any magical man in the sky that has a plan for everyone, but I do pray to God when I'm in deep shit or nervous about crashing on a flight. If I had to choose a God to pray to, it would probably be the Capitalism God or the Sun God (because I can see it without dying afterwards, it brings me warmth, etc.) Ah well. Life is too short to keep kosher.
