Christian/Lutheran.
Because literally the DAY I mentally handed everything over to God, I started making money. I wasn't making shit, I was religious but didn't care to think about it enough. Then I started thinking about it, then I started giving all the money in my wallet in the church offering. Next day, I start making money. The more I gave, the more I got in return. Sort of a karma thing I think.
I had a very similar occurrence with my tithing, followed by then increased income.
Seriously?
Wonderful question!
I'm a Christian. What does that mean? Well, I believe that Jesus die on the cross and resurrected himself on the 3rd day (Easter).
Easter != when Jesus was resurrected, only when we celebrate it (passover hasn't happened yet)
When constantine pronounced christianity the official religion of rome, all of the previous pagan temples were subsequently converted to christian churches. When this happened, many of the previously pagan priests became "christian" priests. Without the strict laws rabbis had to follow in order to become rabbis in jewish culture, these roman priests carried some of their own pagan religion to the table.
One of the old pagan religious festivals celebrated the fertility god, astarte, following the spring equinox. To celebrate each year, people would decorate eggs as a form of celebration and worship of astarte. Oh yea, in many parts of the roman empire, astarte was also called ishtar.
I'm a Christian and felt like a kid who just discovered to origins of santa claus when I first heard this. Just good to know...
Christian/Lutheran.
Most atheists (on this board at least) come off as just know-it-all pricks, and I think it says something about them.
"No ghosts."
"Give me money, fuck religion."
"Do I believe in some crazy zombie that's going to give me eternal life? Yeah that's what I thought."
Such fucking arrogant assholes and because of their stubbornness will never have that experience that will enlighten them.
Know that I am NOT a hardcore religious freak that takes the Bible 100% literally and thinks we should stone women or any of that shit. Something as elegant as this Universe didn't come from nowhere. Why do I believe in my religion?

Religion also gives me a feeling of self-security, and knowing that someone is there to get me through any problem does in fact feel really good. Hey, maybe we do die and just go into the dirt and be recycled - nobody knows for certain. I'm sticking with what works, because it makes me happier, more productive, and makes me more money.
Atheists on this board give atheists in general a bad rep, because they always seem grumpy and out to get somebody.
