What's Your Religion & How Into It Are You?

Atheist. (Though I have to be the stickler and point out that it's not a religion, it's a lack of belief in the supernatural)

Christian, Italian father and a Jewish mother. You can imagine guilt was a large part of my upbringing. After being fed all the BS for years, I finally managed to think for myself. Branched out, started reading a lot of books on philosophy, history and science. As Twain said, I've never let my schooling interfere with my learning.

Greek Orthodox. I'm into it as far as the cultural identity of being Greek in America is heavily tied to your church, but I wouldn't say I'm very religious.

Wonderful question!

I'm a Christian. What does that mean? Well, I believe that Jesus die on the cross and resurrected himself on the 3rd day (Easter). Jesus was a Jew on earth, so I believe that Jews are still to this day are a blessed group by God. Look at Israel....God has protected that nation for many years and America has suffered persecution for protecting them...it's spiritual warfare between the nations right now.....UGH...I'm going off in a tangent....

I believe in the Bible as Jesus' word and I try to live by it every day.

I am human. I make mistakes. I sin. I will never be perfect.

However, that's why Jesus died for me...to wash away my sins.

This website gives a great outline about salvation:

Salvation Prayer

Blessings!

ditto on that

13 years of Catholic schooling. Altar boy, sang in the choir, participated in the youth group and all that good stuff...

I got really pissed at the way the church handled the child molesting priests a few years ago. I thought the church's stance was utter bullshit. Basically, if we find a priest molesting a kid, we'll just move him to a new area. Huh? Move them to a new area? I'm cool with that if the new area is Rikers Iskand , San Quentin or Angola , but these fools were moving predators to areas with new bait.

Aside from that, all that Catholic schooling did a pretty good job of making me an ok person I guess.

I don't spit on old ladies, pee outside or worship satan

I'm more spiritual, than religious these days...

Raised a protestant. In middle school, I told God that I'd do whatever he wanted me to do if he opened the heavens before my eyes and a bunch of angels cast down a brilliant light on me and commanded me to do God's bidding like he did in the Bible. Until that happens, I'm happily agnostic.

I'm a Discordian Pope and by my power just for shits and giggles if you read this you are a Discordian Pope now, too. Your first job as a Discordian Pope is to excommunicate all the other popes and put yourself at the top. After all, if you join a religion, why not join it at the top? Don't take shit from anyone.

In Discordianism, there are five rules to live by:

1. Eris, the Goddess of chaos, is the only Goddess.
2. Every Discordian must use the Discordian Ordering System.
3. Every Discordian must eat a Hot Dog every Friday. This way he breaks the rules of the 5 major world religions: Christianity, no meat on Fridays. Buddhism: no meat. Islam: no pork. Hinduism: no beef. And Discordianism: No Hot Dog buns.
4. A Discordian must not eat Hot Dog buns.
5. A Discordian must not believe what he reads.

Christian/Lutheran.

Most atheists (on this board at least) come off as just know-it-all pricks, and I think it says something about them.

"No ghosts."

"Give me money, fuck religion."

"Do I believe in some crazy zombie that's going to give me eternal life? Yeah that's what I thought."

Such fucking arrogant assholes and because of their stubbornness will never have that experience that will enlighten them.

Know that I am NOT a hardcore religious freak that takes the Bible 100% literally and thinks we should stone women or any of that shit. Something as elegant as this Universe didn't come from nowhere. Why do I believe in my religion?

Because literally the DAY I mentally handed everything over to God, I started making money. I wasn't making shit, I was religious but didn't care to think about it enough. Then I started thinking about it, then I started giving all the money in my wallet in the church offering. Next day, I start making money. The more I gave, the more I got in return. Sort of a karma thing I think.

Religion also gives me a feeling of self-security, and knowing that someone is there to get me through any problem does in fact feel really good. Hey, maybe we do die and just go into the dirt and be recycled - nobody knows for certain. I'm sticking with what works, because it makes me happier, more productive, and makes me more money.

Atheists on this board give atheists in general a bad rep, because they always seem grumpy and out to get somebody.
