What's Your Religion & How Into It Are You?

Christian / Baptist.

Christian/Lutheran.
Because literally the DAY I mentally handed everything over to God, I started making money. I wasn't making shit, I was religious but didn't care to think about it enough. Then I started thinking about it, then I started giving all the money in my wallet in the church offering. Next day, I start making money. The more I gave, the more I got in return. Sort of a karma thing I think.

Everything I have read in the Bible and taken to heart has given me great inspiration and purpose. I probably am more blessed now than ever -- happy? not always, but def. blessed with food, shelter, good friends and family. I had a very similar occurrence with my tithing, followed by then increased income. Christ is/was an amazing character and we should strive to follow in his footsteps daily.

Good question.

I'm a four square denomination christian. Which is similar to baptist christian and we believe basically the same things except we're a little more lay back. Its tough to describe its basically we think people shouldn't get too much pressure to join the church. Like most denominations of christian believe in keeping friends who are more godly and getting your kids "good christian friends", we are more open about it and kind of accept everyone who wants in. Which basically stems around the fact that Jesus when he was on earth did he hang out with the most holy and "good influences" like the priests and the higher ups in the church, no he hung out with the low lifes and people considered very far from god like the fisherman and the poor carpenters (which basically was why he was crucified). Their logic was if he was really the son of god he would of spent his life around the people who God liked more. So we kinda think the same way, be a good christian by setting a good example to those who need it, not by maintaining good company. We tend to believe more strongly in the lambs book of life than most religions. Which usually brings up the big debate around "so you can be a completely evil person your entire life then pray for repentance and the whole accepting god as your savior thing at the last minute and be okay?" Yeah basically.

Seriously?

yeah. I'm not ashamed to admit it now or ever. I know I'm outnumbered on this board, but I don't care. I am, who I am. But, I'm not going to sit here and judge any atheist or any other religion for that matter. I find as long as I worry about myself I lead a better life.

Brought up in Roman Catholicism, somewhat reluctantly. I do believe that something greater than us exists, but I don't think any of the known religions really know what they're talking about. That's not to say that I do, just that there's too much assuming going on for anyone to act as if their religion/non-religion is correct.

Now, I don't belong to any particular religion, but I continue to have faith that something greater exists. Simple as that.

I'm a Muslim. I don't drink alcohol or gamble and in terms of marketing I don't engage in promoting offers, goods and services which come into conflict with my Islamic morals (e.g. Adult).

Raised pentocostal. I fell out of the church long ago, started going back around 18 (turn 21 in a few weeks) been going every saturday, sunday, and a few other programs through out the week. Im non-denominational now. I believe what the bible tells me not what some church does.

Wonderful question!

I'm a Christian. What does that mean? Well, I believe that Jesus die on the cross and resurrected himself on the 3rd day (Easter).

Easter != when Jesus was resurrected, only when we celebrate it (passover hasn't happened yet)

When constantine pronounced christianity the official religion of rome, all of the previous pagan temples were subsequently converted to christian churches. When this happened, many of the previously pagan priests became "christian" priests. Without the strict laws rabbis had to follow in order to become rabbis in jewish culture, these roman priests carried some of their own pagan religion to the table.

One of the old pagan religious festivals celebrated the fertility god, astarte, following the spring equinox. To celebrate each year, people would decorate eggs as a form of celebration and worship of astarte. Oh yea, in many parts of the roman empire, astarte was also called ishtar.

I'm a Christian and felt like a kid who just discovered to origins of santa claus when I first heard this. Just good to know...

Two rules in my religion:

1. Love God
2. Love other people.

If I can honestly say I'm doing both, then I'm set.

Actually, the induction of pagan rituals and beliefs was made purposely to make it easier for 'pagans' to follow the new christian doctrine, further proof that religions is a crock.

Anyway, I believe in god, say my prayers, spend a bit of time on relegious study - both doctrinal and historical. I -try- to observe the jewish shabbāt, but tend to get caught up in work of some sort.

Brought up Christian. Not a very religious person though. There are too many flaws in Christianity for me to be a fanatic about it. Also, it seems way to possible that most religions were made up to keep people in line (if your bad { go to hell } else { heaven }).

One thing I am against is converting people. Let people believe in their own damn god(s) and stop forcing your opinions on others. That's all they are: opinions. With millions of religions existant, most are bound to be false.
^ I grew up with people who always tried to convert other people to their view of Christianity. It always annoyed me.

Christian/Lutheran.

Most atheists (on this board at least) come off as just know-it-all pricks, and I think it says something about them.

"No ghosts."

"Give me money, fuck religion."

"Do I believe in some crazy zombie that's going to give me eternal life? Yeah that's what I thought."

Such fucking arrogant assholes and because of their stubbornness will never have that experience that will enlighten them.

Know that I am NOT a hardcore religious freak that takes the Bible 100% literally and thinks we should stone women or any of that shit. Something as elegant as this Universe didn't come from nowhere. Why do I believe in my religion?

Because literally the DAY I mentally handed everything over to God, I started making money. I wasn't making shit, I was religious but didn't care to think about it enough. Then I started thinking about it, then I started giving all the money in my wallet in the church offering. Next day, I start making money. The more I gave, the more I got in return. Sort of a karma thing I think.

Religion also gives me a feeling of self-security, and knowing that someone is there to get me through any problem does in fact feel really good. Hey, maybe we do die and just go into the dirt and be recycled - nobody knows for certain. I'm sticking with what works, because it makes me happier, more productive, and makes me more money.

Atheists on this board give atheists in general a bad rep, because they always seem grumpy and out to get somebody.

Wow! you hit the nail on the head. I find most so called "atheist" to be almost millitant in their beliefs. Sure you will have some religeous folks jump down your throat if you disbelieve but most wont. At least on this forum, I find that you can count on some smart ass remark or personal attack at the very mention of a God. I find it very strange.

Some studies have linked this 'karma' more to the happiness you get through philanthropy, and the influences it has on your subconscious. It could be argued you started making money after donating to the Church because your subconscious is 'happy'.

Or you could be making money as a 'thanks' from God. Just throwing something else out there.

Aryan Jew

My aunt is an Aryan Jew ( an indian aryan, if you know what i mean )

Her ancestors moved from Israel or w.e to Kerela in Southern India 600 years back and they somehow mixed with the local Aryan population here and there.

So, she's an Aryan + Jew.
