Where did all of the Zip Submits go?

is it really a wonder that they died off? It's like asking where all the PTC campaigns are

Yeah, well I'm sure the advertisers were making money at some point. It's just that recently people have gotten better and better at exploiting them for profit. It fucking sucks that right as I'm launching a nice new campaign they all have to pull out or drop their payouts by over 50%.

If affiliates want to continue to profit from campaigns like zip submits, they really need to own up to lead quality. There are a lot of affiliates out there that truly try to drive good lead quality, but we've had numerous guys that try to fraud us. That's the main issue as to why a lot of advertisers have either pulled these campaigns or why the conversions have suffered.

I actually "tried" to follow through on a few zip/email submits for "free blenders" and shit, putting myself in the place of the surfer.

They're fucking ponzi scheme, garbagetrage bullshit scam offers designed to confuse the surfer into giving up before he/she has a prayer of getting anything out of it.

Fuck the advertisers for putting that shit up in the first place.

As for legitimate offers like insurance co's or or whoever, stop putting money on the table for that shit. Pay an online affiliate like you would a storefront agent for a VERIFIED policy and you'll have the world by the nuts.

I know for liability only on my mudbug (my fun truck) I pay $34 a month. My agent made $45 for the signup and gets about $9 a month for the policy.

Pay ME that kind of bank and I'll bring you some serious fucking leads.

Offer me $2.75 and you can play my favorite game I invented: suck the wrinkles out of my sack.

I understand advertisers have to make a buck, deal with fraud, split the takings with the networks and the publishers and blah blah blah, but the fact remains, most payouts suck balls, especially since very few companies are offering true residual to affiliates.

You want to get me excited? Offer me a $5 payout for the lead and $2.75 per month with the ability to audit when a customer leaves (like giving ME their fucking contact info by letting me put the lead page on my own site so I can check up on you scammy lead shaving, network turning off, scrubbing asses.)

I'm new to the game but advertisers and networks both know the score: it's the affiliates doing the hard part. You don't like the game, go play in a different fucking ballpark.

You want good leads? Pay us what you'd pay any other salesperson and show us a little fucking respect.

Whew.

I think I need another Klonipin. I'm all worked up now.

You say that advertisers should deal w/the fraud. That's what their doing is dealing with the fraud. If it weren't for publishers trying to cheat the advertisers & networks, people would still be seeing excellent conversions and yields would still be extremely high. Maybe instead of bashing the advertisers, maybe you should spend time trying to catch the fraud publishers out there and get rid of them.

What I said was that I know they HAVE to deal with fraud. As long as there's money on the table, fraud isn't going to go away.

So let's go to business school 101.

Term: Cost of Doing Business
Definition: An cost which is accepted as necessary to carry on a profitable enterprise. Examples include inventory, furniture, fixtures, equipment, labor, leasing and accounting for fucksticks trying to defraud you. In the "real world" it's called "shrink."

So you think I, as a publisher, need to spend my time policing the networks and other affiliates when I, as a publisher, am given a giant shit sandwich instead of actionable data?

Should I roam around WalMart all fucking night looking for shoplifters too?

Try to catch kids sneaking into a second movie at the theater?

Tackle the next guy I see sampling the grapes at Kroger?

Are you on crack?

My point was that if they don't like the quality of what they're getting they should stop asking for the same thing and expecting a different set of results. If you ask for a zip, you'll fucking get one. If you ask for a completed application with a deposit check, you'll get one.

The difference is, you have to PAY for the second one and the cheap motherfuckers don't want to do that.

So they, and you, need to quit fucking whining about it.

Advertisers make the rules cuz they gots the gold. Bitching about a game that you invented and control is kind of like beating the shit out of your kids for getting hungry. You made the kids. Kids get hungry. Hitting them doesn't fix the fucking problem, it just proves that you should have been forcibly sterilized at puberty.

Hmmm. That leads me to a differrent topic and website...

There are tons of advertisers that will pay for a longer form lead. You can go on any network and find cash advance, health, mortgage, debt etc offers that will pay a higher price for the long form lead.

I don't know how many times I've come on boards like this where you have publishers blabbing about how they have cheat advertisers and have shared their tricks of the trade. If you feel you're getting the short end of the stick from advertises, then you need not look any further than the publishers on boards like this.

As an advertiser you have to deal with fraud. That's not a point I will argue. It's a price you have to pay to do business. However, as a publisher you have to realize there are going to be cheaters out there that will negatively impact what you do. You say you won't stop people from committing theft offline. That's part of the reason it costs so much for products. Companies have to factor in their losses due to theft. It's the same in the online world.

I'm assuming that you're only a publisher and have no products of your own in which you pay for advertising. Because if you were an advertiser, you'd completely understand the obstacles.

I happen to play both sides of the fence and understand the challenges of both a publisher and an advertiser.

Holy shit @ scubaslick. Awesome posts.

haha, great posts, reminded me of glengarry glen ross:

Blake: You got leads. Mitch & Murray paid good money. Get their names to sell them. You can't close the leads you're given, you can't close shit, *you are* shit, hit the bricks pal, and beat it, 'cause you are going *out*.
Shelley Levene: The leads are weak.
Blake: "The leads are weak." The fucking leads are weak? You're weak. I've been in this business fifteen years...
Dave Moss: What's your name?
Blake: Fuck you. That's my name.
[Moss laughs]
Blake: You know why, mister? 'Cause you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight, I drove an eighty thousand dollar BMW. *That's* my name.
