I've been with my wife for 7 years now and I love the shit out of her. She washes my shitty boxer shorts with little regard to her own safety, and gives me blow jobs when I want them. The smell on the back of her neck drives me nuts.

Who's in love? Anyone?

In B4 this is gay, and you're not gay enough.

responding solely because this was a bold thread to start on wf. i'm not. was (and there's nothing worse than 'was', which pretty much means "still is, but bitter about it"). good on you if you are, bro.

love = interpersonal addiction. like with all addictions, nothing better when you've got it, nothing worse when it's gone, nothing you won't do to get it back.

Haven't been in love since 2007

Fuck love. I've been totally in love while having it returned twice now in life, and both times I got burnt. First time was absolutely soul crushing, and although the second time sucked too, it was nowhere near as bad as the first.

So fuck it, I got dogs now. Maybe I'll worry about finding love some other year, but not a priority in life anymore, whereas before it was by far the most important thing. As long as we had each other, nothing else mattered, and while together, all of life's problems seemed quite miniscule.

Thinking about, fuck, I'm only 31, and I'm already the crazy guy with dogs? Isn't this phase of life not supposed to kick in until you're at least 60?

My impression is that the people who bash love and call it a farce would be the first to welcome love with open arms if it were to present itself honestly. It's easier to say "fuck love" and "money over bitches" than to admit wanting love but not having it.

Ohhh, without question love is the greatest thing in life. You wake up with a huge smile on your face every day, the world becomes brighter, all of life's problems become smaller, etc. Especially the first say 12 months -- they're the best.

However, fast forward a few years until your lives are totally intertwined -- what's mine is yours, joint bank accounts, same future plans, living in a foreign country together, you're now the breadwinner, etc. Then they decide gosh darnit, they just don't quite love you as much anymore, and shit proceeds to hit the fan. Your entire world disappears, and you're back to starting from square one.

Love may be the greatest thing in life, but it's also most painful. Falling in love isn't something you can just continually do at a whim throughout your life. It takes a lot out of a guy, hence why I got dogs now. They're much more loyal, and will love me until their last dying breath without question.
