After seeing my friend's healthy 30 year old sister (same age as me) end up in the hospital last week, I decided to put my name on a list of people to get the nasal vaccine (wanted the live virus vaccine as opposed to the shot). Earlier today the clinic called and told me to come in today if I wanted it.

I've never had a flu vaccine before, but I guess my side-effects are pretty normal. So far I have: headache, pain behind the eyes, weak/tired, slight cough.

Anyway, anyone else take it? Or does nobody here want to be part of a giant government conspiracy? Pussies.

Yeah, I took it. My college campus offered it for free, since it was so rampant, people living in such close quarters and all. It wasn't too horrible.

Wasn't it unnaturally cold, though?

yeah, it's really cold because they have to keep it refrigerated. The virus in the vaccine is genetically altered so that it can't live in temperatures above 98.6 degrees.

Did you have any side-effects?

From what I've read, the vaccine makers themselves arent even taking their own medicine. Why? They admit it was rushed, they didnt have time to study the side effects, and it could be more damaging down the road having taken it that not.

I think I'll wait until Spring when h1n1 mutates like theyre all saying it will into something more serious, then risk it. For this stage of h1n1 I think taking a vaccine is the wrong move.

Nothing horrible yet. A pretty big headache, but I've had that all day, and got the mist in the afternoon.

Let us know how the brain swelling works out. The nerves in the nose are a direct pathway to the brain. You're basically injecting a live virus, cultured on chicken eggs, straight past the blood-brain barrier. Even worse, the chicken genome itself and animal DNA is left in the vaccine, along with the possibility of some retrovirus or other contamination's.

On the bright side, its not the shot which is documented to have trace amounts of mercury.

I am Legend.

i'm in nyc and i'm fucking paranoid about that shit. i'm constantly surrounded by people in very close distances, on subways etc.., i'm still not getting vaccinated. gallons of purel and -relatively- healthy living ftw (hopefully.)

Elderberry extract, bitches. Something in it's chemical structure keeps flu virus cells from bonding to the host cells in your body and the flu virus starves and dies.

Google that shit.

Fuck, maybe if h1n1 rocks domes across this country there will be a sweet rebill opportunity there.

Is it more likely you will get Swine Flu and die, or die from the vaccine?

There have been many documented deaths from Swine Flu, and none from the vaccine. I'll take my chances with the vaccine.

Read some reliable sources - Vaccine maker scientists have taken the vaccine, and nobody has found any side effects that don't seem to be present in other vaccines. A family member of mine is friends with someone at the CDC, and the guy at the CDC wasn't shy about saying he'd get the vaccine once it came out. One of the theories being bounced around is that part of the h1n1 variant is mimicking a virus that people in their 40s and above may have had exposure to in the past, so they've built up a better tolerance/immunity, but those under that haven't been exposed to that, so they do not have that kind of immunity.

Welcome to any live attenuated vaccine. Take out the live attenuated part, and you've got pretty much any vaccine. Mist vaccines aren't anything new, either. I've had the regular flu mist vaccine in the past (when the shot one was in short supply), and nothing bad happened. Ever had the MMR vaccine? Yeah, that's a live attenuated vaccine, as is the chicken pox vaccine.

My family is full of doctors, and there's no way in hell I'd get a vaccine that those family members were unsure about (and no, they didn't take out a life insurance policy on me and want me dead).

It's not like they've never done a flu vaccine before.

All of the fear regarding the vaccine comes from things that 'could' happen if you take it. All of the fear regarding swine flu itself comes from things that 'have' happened if you catch it.

I'd rather take a risk that something bad happens (with the vaccine) than have the certainty of knowing if I catch swine flu something bad will happen.

I'm hoping the flu I suffered thru early summer was the h1n1 (didn't get tested, just suffered mightily for 4 days while on 24/7 recoup mode. Reading about the 1918-20 Spanish Influenza pandemic, it hit the US in spring, made it's rounds, got people sick but appeared to be nothing special, then migrated to South America for there flu season (our summer) and then mutated and migrated back north as a stone cold killer.

So yeah, hope I'm immune for the suffering I already put down.

Chicken pox vaccine is cultured from human diploid cells, not chicken eggs, HUGE fucking difference your doctor family can confirm.

Here's the ingredients for the chicken pox vaccine:
• live virus
• sucrose, saline, gelatin, potassium
• MSG (same as chinese food)
• neomycin (antibiotic)
• EDTA (chemical)
• cow fetus serum (sounds awesome)

Hit us back on the swine ingredients.
