Why I live in Springfield, Missouri...

Why on earth would you want to live somewhere that snows for half the year?!?!

For $2,200/mo my winters get to look like this

I enjoy Winter/Snow and the change of seasons. I have 20,000 miles of snowmobile trails to explore, multiple places to snowboard, and 10,000+ lakes to ice fish on during the winter here in MN. Then there is always Snow Shoeing, Cross-Country Skiing, Ice Skating, Ice Yachting, Sledding, Snow Kiting, Ice Climbing, and more that I haven't listed.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna go sit on the beach and watch girls in bikinis in February. San Diego FTW!

Make this street legal to get to work and I'd consider your point valid.

Yeah, but the whole stupidity factor of people on the coasts makes me wish global warming would come sooner. I be a mile high, and high on top of that. Can't wait for my beach front property here in Colorado.

Damn I live on Long Island and pay $3100 a month mortgage, plus $8000 a year for taxes, and I have a small 3 bedroom house built in 1967.... FML.

Nice place, good luck getting off the waiting list. As someone living in a city that like tearing down all old buildings, it's pretty hard to find a good old loft style building with exposed brick, in a good area. Ideally I'd be living in a place with exposed brick, exposed beams, exposed ductwork, and a large living space.

Right around the time I left St. Louis, a bunch of buildings downtown were being renovated into lofts like that, not sure what the prices ended up being for renting & buying there.

$900-1200 a month in South Carolina for a similar setup, and you're within a 2-3 hour drive of the beach.

I have been all through the US - and overseas some.

One thing always holds true - I'd rather hang out with the people who are happy with where they live and know why than the people who are unhappy and haven't figured it out yet.

So to you guys who have it figured it out and are happy - kudos. I'd hang with you in the desert or in the far reaches of northern MN (where I grew up - we don't consider it cold until it gets to -20 and your snot freezes immediately after stepping outside).
