Why I live in Springfield, Missouri...

#1 question asked in Springfield, "Do you know Jesus?"

I don't know about that...but the people are very nice in the Ozarks area.

And hopefully I don't derail the entire thread here, as this is really getting off topic from the original post. But if your biggest gripe is people asking you about Jesus, that sounds great to me. I mean, there are so many other things that could be going on, you could be getting robbed in other cities. Would you take someone asking you about Jesus, or a gun to your head? Of course that's over simplifying it, but you get the point.

As Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller has said, if they really believe that in their heart, and really believe that if you don't know Jesus you're going to Hell, how bad would they have to hate you, to NOT tell you.

I was in the Ozarks at a grocery store, and I had a bottle of the non alcoholic grape juice, which at first glance looks like it could be wine. There was an older lady (old enough to be my Grandma), behind me, and she told me "You know Jesus Loves You". I had a chuckle over that...but the point is, if people being nice and caring is a negative, I'd take it all day long.

The beaches all sucked and it was a chore to find one that was clean with few people. No trees. Parking sucks. People drive like they are in a fucking nascar race. Rudest people I've ever met. Crime, crime, crime.

Hmm you must have lived in a bad area. There are tons of awesome beaches within a 30 minute drive.

Trees? I have about 300 just on my property alone.

Parking sucks, but it sucks in any great place to live. Not much of a problem when you work from home and most of the places you go out to valet. :)

I'm an aggressive driver so I fit right in with the Nascar racin'. Move over granny!

There are great people and rude people everywhere. Fact.

Gee what do you know, there's actually less crime in my San Diego hood then there is in Springfield, MO ... and I don't have to deal with people asking me about jesus every day. I'll stay where I'm at!

Ha, Im staying in Puerto Rico. 15 min drive to the beach, good winds, good sailing, hot girls, chilled people and great night life.

By the way, why dont you just delegate your hosting company's duties. This type of thing can be handed off to someone that's needs a job overseas and you can spend time doing better stuff, socialize and just be outside your crib for a while.

Find a Filipino with an entrepreneurial spirit or get to meet some people from over there and just keep delegating stuff step by step until they do everything.

I have 1 VA/Sales rep and an accountant from the Phillipines and they practically run my business.

You don't need to spend time answering support questions, someone trustworthy with with basic knowledge on what you do can do that at $250/month and some good benefits from your end.

$250 a month to wake up in your morning, without being stressed out about your emails and hosting uptime is AMAZINGLY worth it.

My 2 cents. Maybe you are doing all that already.

Rancho Santa Fe isn't even close to being San Diego in my book. I'm talking about within about a mile of the gaslamp quarter.

Edit: And as for crime... I've been in Springfield for 12 years now and never been robbed, etc... In less than a year in San Diego and Oceanside I had my house broken into twice, family car broken into like 5 times, and "threatened" a number of times just walking down the street.

Edit #2: Oh, and not to mention the time my girlfriend and I were on the train back from Tijuana and some dude sat down across from us and started whacking off to her reflection in the window.

You're comparing a town of 3k, to a city of 150k.

Try this, it's about 5 minutes from Springfield, and the sizes are more comparable:

And they have Lamberts, can't go wrong there.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

They have their fair share of creeps out here.

Last year my wife was doing a morning run and said she spied some dude on the trail in the bushes pants down stroking a boner

But that guy had a point, you don't have any VAs helping you out with that stuff?

Meh..........

I can get a HOUSE with 6,000 finished square feet, and a decent sized yard in my part of Ohio for around $1,600/mo , so you're not too much better off ;)

I like springfield, my wife has a ton of family from that area.

I was just pointing out that there are lots of nice areas in northern san diego - with trees, some of the best schools in the state, relatively low crime, etc. RSF, Olivenhain, and the surrounding areas are all great places to live, work, raise a family, etc. and you're only 10 mins from the beach. As far as RSF and the surrounding areas not being San Diego, I'm not exactly sure what that's supposed to mean since it's all north San Diego county. Are you talking only about the gaslamp quarter? That doesn't make much sense. You can't exactly compare downtown San Diego to Springfield, MO ... nor would I ever want to live downtown (in any city).

I have lived in Minnesota my whole life. I have only visited other states on vacation, obviously. So keep that in mind....

As much as I keep saying to myself during the middle of winter that I want to move because I am sick of this shit ass cold, I never do. I think it is kinda stupid to move somewhere just to be in a warmer climate (for me). Almost all my family and friends are from around here - makes the decision to stay a lot easier, I guess. I assume this is the same for a lot of people not wanting to relocate across country.

I have been to a ton of different warmer places but I have been to Florida the most (one family member there). Even though the beaches were cool, the chicks were a bit hotter, and people more interesting in general I would never live there. That state is full of crazies and pedos and people either don't speak English or are just dicks in general. Obviously not everyone there is (don't take offense if you live there), but when you compare the general population to a Midwestern state the difference is def noticeable.

Another thing is I would take a nice lake over the ocean any day. This is mostly due to the fact that I am scared shitless of sharks.

^Dude, I know. It doesn't matter. I am a huge pussy, but it is a phobia that I have. I don't even like being in water knee deep.

Don't miss it . . you see those fences? We don't have those in central ohio. The kids go up and down the street, through back yards, etc . . .

Sometimes i think about going back, but AZ is getting to be so much like So.Cal, it's scary . .

I have fences in central ohio. Kids do walk on them and shit.

I lived in Gilbert. It's a bible thumping farm town that smells like cow shit. You have to drive 15 minutes to get anywhere worth hanging out.

It STILL smells like cow shit??? I would have though eventually with the growth of the town that would have gone away.

It was on the way to TJ.
