I have a wifey who has her own business. We mesh well because we're both those binge and play workaholic types who work crazy hours in our respective businesses, then take nice breaks to go to Nantucket or wherever for two week vacations. We have a very nice life together.
Wifey has been dealing with SO much shit from other women in her life who don't understand what it's like making your own money. Sis-in-law is one (breeder sow with three kids, no job, a hubby prematurely aging from working at a deadend job, usual story.) Her mom is another. Then her two best friends are suddenly on her about shit - like, why can't she take the day off to have facials or whatever? When she explains that she doesn't make money if she's not promoting her copyrwriting services and working for clients, and she'd rather make money than get a facial anyway, the cunts are all over her. They honestly don't get the world of money or having your own business. THey fucking think money either comes from the sky magically - or that husbands automatically provide this.
I make more than enough to support both of us but my wife has a brain and she's incredibly driven and creative, so she enjoys having her own business. Plus she's worked damned hard to get there and to have lots of work she enjoys. She does schedule down time, but she can't do a lot of spontaneous down time. And that's the shit that gets her in trouble with the WOMBEN in her lives.....seems all they can talk about is kids, goofing off, and spending their husband's (meager) money...they dont' get the idea of working hard so you can be living off your investments in a few years and retire young.
Women seem to come in two categories - either creative and self-actualized types who enjoy learning, growing, and working at something interesting - or lazy breeder sows who count the minutes until they can go on maternity leave and then just never come back to their alleged "job" because they hate it so much, meanwhile draining the companies they "work" for of tons of money during their maternity leave...then quitting right after they go back to work post-baby. I hate that shit.
Do the women in your life get what you do? Do they get the whole making your own money thang? Or do they give you grief? I'm really grateful the wifey has her own gig going so she can understand the pace of what I do, the ebbs and flows, the risks and rewards.
