Time for my first infamous thread since returning. Enjoy bros...

This last week has seen a shitload of uproar against the murkan guvmint... Both internationally and domestically.

From the Chinese threatening us to not take this debt ceiling stuff too lightly, to light-but-threatening satire about how the rest of the armies in the world can conquer the USA, to the front page of the NewYorker calling for all of congress to be mauled by bears.

All entertaining of course, but in this fog of disillusionment, something far more important has happened: The internet has almost literally told the US gubbmint to go fuck itself:

http://www.internetgovernance.org/2013/10/11/the-core-internet-institutions-abandon-the-us-government

ICANN and the rest of the internet authorities have unanimously stated that they will no longer be working with the US government, on such things as policy and possibly even takedown requests!

They have, in fact, aligned themselves much more closely with Brazil, which is a BRICS country, so that doesn't look very good for the US either.

You'd really have to be a bat-blind statist of the most propagandized kind to believe that the USA is going to be a superpower for much longer... The kind of fool that has multiple Obama stickers still proudly displayed on his or her bumper.

(In fact I have a neighbor with 1 obomba sticker on her bumper and she sees this country collapsing soon too!)

Ed Snowden's revelations have certainly made this snowball roll downhill much faster. In his own words last friday:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyy3Odda33k]Edward Snowden speaks about NSA programmes at Sam Adams award presentation in Moscow - YouTube[/ame]

Soo... How long until the USSA really does start to really feel the shame, bros?

I know myself and tons of others here have stated in the past that the sheeple are too busy being entertained by murikan idol and stuff to even consider a revolution, (bread and circuses have been working) but now we are an international laughing stock and can't even keep our EBT card system up and working!

There is simply too much debt now. All it is going to take in my humble opinion is for another QE issuance or three for the inflation to start to become apparent, and then a touch more of job loss to really make things too painful for the average murikan... Then things could really start to get ugly, fast.

This is the only time people will give a shit. As Merikans, 99% don't care what's going on as long as their dailies live are, for the most part, uninterrupted.

Once the average citizen starts feeling the pain of economic collapse, either directly or indirectly, I think that's when it's going to get really, really ugly.

It scares me, I wish a bro or five would hold me, in fact. :crap:

Oops, I forgot to mention that clip of Snowden was when he was receiving the Sam Adams Medal of freedom... IN MOSCOW.

Perhaps the biggest slap in murika's face yet.

Sam Adams gives out medals? Do they have one for raging alcoholics? I'd like to add some decoration to my office.

I hope you guys do default - I need a jump in the gold price - been pretty unspectacular performance on both the silver and gold for 2 years now.

You are assuming USA is a super power because of it's perceived superiority/morality/character/values. That was never the case. USA was, is and will continue to be a super power because of military might.

Whoever is strongest, gets to make the rules of the game, which gives that person a huge advantage over everyone else.

Also, the fact that so many believe the USA is going to unravel is a sure sign that the opposite will happen. It tends to be that reality is diametrically opposite to the current belief of the majority.

Weren't people in the 70s talking about the downfall of the USA and the rise of Russia? That sure happened {rolleyesimg}

LOL if you think 'shame' matters in the world of power. Either you are winning or losing. The luster of wealth has a way of melting away the dirt of deeds done.

All it is going to take in my humble opinion is for another QE issuance or three for the inflation to start to become apparent, and then a touch more of job loss to really make things too painful for the average murikan... Then things could really start to get ugly, fast.
QE money hasn't and likely won't affect the economy much because it is not money that circulates. It adds zeros to the bank accounts of the wealthy, but their spending habits are unchanged.

Only money that enters into the real economy (read, currency that is used for trade of real world tangibles) will affect inflation.

Um, no.

It assumes that Economics > brute force.

That was never the case. USA was, is and will continue to be a super power because of military might.
Ah, which is exactly why the USSR was able to use the 2nd largest army in earth's history to keep it's country together forever, amiright?

This is quite embarrassing to read... Please, oh please go read up on some economics that isn't keynesian.

Um, no.

It assumes that Economics > brute force.

That is the underlying misconception most people have. So I guess the world chooses to buy/sell oil in dollars because Economics > brute force ... right?

That is also why Gadaffy, Husain, Mubarak and others did so well. Because Economics > brute force

Ah, which is exactly why the USSR was able to use the 2nd largest army in earth's history to keep it's country together forever, amiright?

Saying the USSR was the 2nd largest is like me saying I'm the second best runner next to Usain Bolt if only he and I were runners. By second largest, you mean a fraction of the budget/power of the first?

In the realm of power, 2nd largest doesn't get to make the rules.

The USSR also had a much more corrupt and inefficient system. And last, the USSR still exists to some degree. You think Russia doesn't hold power over it's old territories?

This is quite embarrassing to read... Please, oh please go read up on some economics that isn't keynesian.

You are embarrassed because of what I posted or should I be? I'm not sure what you are trying to communicate with that pretentious sentence.

However, I will concede you are right. Based on the rules of the game, the US should default/have massive inflation. However, if you make the rules (like the US does), you have the advantage of being in a losing situation like the US was in the 70s and simply invent a new rule to put them on top (petro dollars)

Also, I replied to other parts of your post here: http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/176585-y-u-no-like-murikans.html#post2118416

Lukep unless you're getting paid for these posts then shouldn't you be trying to revive your business?

Louisiana officials are trying to decide what to do about a massive shopping spree by families on food stamps when a power outage lifted the caps on their spending cards.

Police were called to Walmarts in Mansfield, La., and Springhill, La., on Saturday as shoppers cleaned out store shelves.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said some customers were pushing more food than any household could store in a refrigerator and freezer.

"I saw people drag out 8 to 10 grocery carts," he said.

Lynd said customers were "not unruly." There were no fights or arrests made, but the scene was still chaotic, he said.

"It was definitely worse than Black Friday. It was worse than anything we had ever seen in this town," Lynd said of Springhill, which is near the border with Arkansas. "There was no food left on any of the shelves, and no meat left. The grocery part of Walmart was totally decimated."

He said one customer made about $700 in food purchases.

Lynd said that around 9 p.m. CT on Saturday, a Walmart employee made an announcement on the intercom saying that the computer system had been restored and card limits had returned. At that time, customers left shopping carts full of food in store aisles.

"At that point in time, they knew the jig was up and they couldn't purchase what they wanted to," Lynd said.
