Today's America is in the same position as was the United Kingdom, not that long ago.

For centuries, the United Kingdom dominated the World, but the world changed, so America took the position left by the United Kingdom.

Whatsoever, the United Kingdom remains a great power, and a political giant.
Even if America loses half of its power, it will remain a major regional power.

The main challenger is China, but China does not have the military power, especially maritime power, the USA possess.
Not to mention, their diplomatic network, pretty limited to North Korea & Mongolia, no joke.

The European Union is more or less a same of the USA, some people even talk to make a Great Western Union, including European Union & the USA.

There is already NATO, which is mostly a US - EU military Union.
And for many Europeans, the European Union is the trade & political arm of NATO.

So, consider the USA + European Union + Japan and some other allies.
Even if they lose some of their power, they will remain major nations.

China + what? North, Mongolia & Burma??

Let's say, tomorrow the US navy close the oil supply from Middle East to China, in the name of human rights in China, etc etc...

What could China do?
(That is the nightmare of China, and one reason, they spend so much to develop their navy)

Even Vietnam, a communist country, a neighbor of China, harbor the US navy, and common drills with their US counterpart.

Protests don't do anything on the small scale.
The people are too stupid to wake up.
Actively promoting this stuff gets ignored.
The media is in control of the masses.
US stocking up on ammo and trying to remove guns from citizens.
Detention camps waiting to be filled; warrant-less arrests, lifetime imprisonment with no trial.
Your money is traceable, so is your car, communications, etc.
Corrupt corporations and banks can strip you of everything.
The food supply is also in jeopardy with Monsanto.
Drones watching your ever move.

I mean that's just a FEW things, jeez.

Go to Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, etc...

I just spent a couple weeks in Moscow. Very nice city. Much better and more first world than LA. I'm sure Snowden is enjoying it.

n-cube, you're making the same mistake that greenleaves above did... Yes we have the warships and nukes and all kinds of military power... But we're 17 Trillion dollars in debt with 123 Trillion dollars worth of unfunded liabilities!

We simply won't be able to buy the gas to get those boats to go anywhere before long... This is an Economics problem, not a military problem.

@contract: There is a perfectly good solution. Some laugh at it, but those who study it well know it will work.

Agorism, especially with mass acceptance of bitcoin, will remove the power from central bankers totally. 100%. Central who?

Governments haven't been able to stop bittorrent in the last 13 years... and now bitcoin has more hashing power than EVERY supercomputer on earth combined. They truly are powerless to stop it, and with it, we can ignore the central banks into oblivion.

It's not as fast as a solution as I'd like, but it'll work.
 
You've got the gun.

What I mean, is that you have military power, so you can force Chinese to buy your debts.

If the Chinese refuse, you cut the oil supply route from Middle East to China.

You hold China in your hand.
You've got the gun, they don't.

Of course, always, in the name of freedom, liberty, etc...

See, I am not saying that any state will survive or is good, I am just saying having a state is better than having none.

See Somalia for a good example of modern day Anarchy (pre 2010, they got a gubmint now)

When the UK lost it's position it simply rolled over and offered it's belly to the new #1.

Since Reagan & Thatcher we have been the 51st state of Murkah. I somehow can't see you chaps doing likewise when you're knocked off top spot.

They could seize control of many of the "gas stations" using those boats if they wanted.

When I advocate for stateless societies, I don't do so under the idea that the only thing changed is a lack of government, as if I believe things would be fine and dandy with a light switch were flipped and all government employees were fired. Too many are brainwashed into the concept of the necessity of government, and would ultimately just create another government.

It's a multi-generational approach, and it begins with parenting culture.

Teaching children to:
(a) Think for themselves. Critical thinking.
(b) To question authority. (This is a tough one as most parents believe they're the "superiors" and demand blind obedience.)
(c) See the state for which it is; organized crime.
(d) Not to resort to violence to achieve things (Most parents tell children not to hit or steal, but they see that doesn't apply in the adult world as it pertains to how we handle victimless crimes, taxation, etc..)

(a) is the most important. Two things that get in the way of that process now are (1) schools which rely on conditioning obedient citizens, and (2) religion.

If we can usher in a parenting culture that aligns with the points above, everything else will fall in place. Anarchism would be just a natural consequence.

I used to grouse when people would hold up Somalia as the quintessential example of anarchy. Today, I welcome it. Like track marks on a heroin addict, the comparison is an identifier. In this case, it helps me to identify disingenuity or ignorance and a willingness to put said ignorance on display.*

It is easy to know when someone's knowledge of Somalia is limited to what they observed in Black Hawk Down. It is also easy to know when someone's understanding of anarchy is based on false assumptions.



* I am ignorant regarding 99% of life. But I seldom express opinions about those things. Nor do I make baseless statements disguised as fact about them.
