I was 7 years old when i saw my first stoning. some alcoholic fuck (the backstory was told me years later by my older cousin nadia) abusing muslim fuck kept beating his wife. cheating on her and tormenting her in the town where we were from in western iran by the iraqi border.
This prick was a real asshole but a lot of poeple were scared of him because hes father was a respected "akhoond" (mullah) in a neighbooring town.
The wife having had enough decides to escape with her young child. The husband finds out and enraged drunk he tries to strangle her. somehow she gets away from him and runs to nieghboors house.
the embarrased husband with his familys name on the line cries like a little bitch to his daddy the imam you want all of us to meet. Within short matter of time she gets accused of sex outside marraiged and sentenced to death by stoning.
the folks stoning her up in a frenzy with the allah akbars are pelting this poor women till her body is black and blue and blood all over her head but still alive.. the thing is though she wouldn't die.. she kept struggling and struggling to get free to live. screaming the name of her little baby.. screaming for mercy. of course at some point the people realize the horror they are causing and stop throwing the rocks. Only for her husband to pick up a shovel walk up to her and bashed her head in with it.
I just wondering what was going through her (besides the shovel) wether she gave a flying fuck what some politically correct asshat in canada thought about the outreach program to the local imams so they too can be brainwashed about how beautiful islam is.
now i dont care wether you believe me or not as it wont change my dreams iv had about her or the things i saw.. it sure as fuck wont bring her back. obvously if you personally need to see a stoning in a muslim country a quick click to liveleak should suffice as im sure thats not something you want to see in person.
This is the result of people doing bad things to one another. It has happened everywhere in the world, for most of human history.
What you consider, sane, rational human relations is a relatively new phenomenon, less than 200 odd years old in most of the world.
I'm not justifying it, it's obviously horrible. But some context is helpful. These are individuals doing bad things, just as white northern European Christians used to burn women alive as witches, and African tribes genocide one another.
It's not been exclusive to Muslims.

I know personally and have lived among many decent Muslim people. I am not an Islamo-expert, but I suspect I have 1000x as much exposure to Islam as the bigots in this thread whose experience with Islam seems to be driven very much by media narratives.

To the first part of this, I am the furthest possible thing from a liberal yuppie. I'm a philosophical anarchist and have almost nothing to do with anything mainstream, political or liberal.
To the second part, countries like Iran and Afghanistan were fairly modern and western in their values prior to interventions by the Soviets and the British/Americans. Afghanistan has literally been thrust centuries into the past by imperialist ambitions.

I'm not apologizing for Islam in this thread, I just use the Islam threads to make points about collectivism because a lot of small minded bigots give me the forum to do so via their anti-Islam content.
I'd do the same if these were anti-Jew, anti-Christian or anti-Buddhist threads, but because we have some forum members who are easily manipulated by media, fear and government, we get anti-Islam threads.
The problem I have with all of this, is that it's collectivist. It doesn't see individuals as individuals, but attributes (as you do) responsibility for the actions of some, to everyone. It sees all Muslims as dangerous, when clearly millions of them are not.
These sorts of rationales however are useful, because it allows people like Hellblazer to get behind the mass murder of Muslims by western military and justify it because Muslims are no longer seen as human. He can rationalize the bombing of babies because Muslims have been dehumanized. And he's bought into the nonsense that some human lives aren't valuable because they belong to a certain "class".
This sort of thinking in my opinion, is repugnant. It is disgusting.
If you want to make the world better, be a good man. If you want to be a good muslim, do so. Set an example. But crying and moaning about how bad things are isn't going to change anything.
On the contrary, you're validating the opinions of people like Hellblazer who would gladly see your entire family annihilated because he can't distinguish between you and the animals you hate.
