Yahoo is going to be the default search engine in Firefox



Google probably ended their agreement or something - they want to kill off firefox so Chrome can take their share.

I just want Pale Moon to get more awareness - that thing is fast! i just need a good way to mitigate to it.
 
One bright spot for Google — it remains the Firefox partner in Europe, something the Firefox blog post omitted. That post made clear Yahoo was the new US choice, Yandex the new Russian choice and Baidu the choice in China.

But for Europe and other places like Africa or South America? It said nothing. When asked, Beard confirmed to Marketing Land that Google is the choice for Europe.

He gave no explanation why Google was allowed to continue in Europe through what must be a new deal, given that Google’s formerly worldwide deal is ending.

They are so full of shit. It's always about the money. They "allowed" it to continue in Europe because google has an ongoing rape case there.


Side note but this Hidden From Google site mentioned in the article is pretty sweet.

Now Yahoo needs a Search Improvement Expert from the market and I am open for the job with Title of "Best Expert with No Match"....
 
I don't know why Yahoo isn't more popular. The ads they ran a few years ago with the Yodeler saying..Yahooooooooo is still stuck in my head. To this day everytime I say Yahoo I say it just like that. Mostly when I climax.

They have money to run ads? I don't understand how they have still managed to stay up and running. After destroying countless websites after taking them over and their non algorithmic search engine they still manage to keep it going. I wonder when tumblr is going to crash and burn.

Just die already yahoo, just let us accept that you are a pleasant memory of the past. You've become a bitter present, leading to a bitter future.

Most of their traffic is probably not for search. Their homepage is the ideal portal for many, millions use their email, etc.

They have live concerts every day, and Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski is one of the most referred to NBA writers. These two might only account for a small drop in the bucket of overall web traffic, but the point is that they have a variety of things beyond search that make them a destination.

Yahoo uses Bing, which has a ranking algorithm that supposedly uses over 1,000 signals.
