Convince me to spend $2,500 on something other than an iMac

[root@boost VirtualBox VMs]# du -h --max-depth=1

17G ./Large XP (Base)
8.7G ./Windows 7 (Other)
7.0G ./Large Windows 7 (Base)

I highlighted the important lines for you. A base install of Windows 7 with ALL the updates, takes up 7G total, not much diff to your 6.1G lion install. (The XP base image size doesn't count for offtopic reasons).

Is that Win 7 Ultimate or Home/Home Premium?

Also, having your two finger scroll inverted is seriously not fucking cool. Going to help someone on their Mac, and having to adjust for their inverted settings is fucking irritating.

You can uncheck 1 box to "revert" it.

Imagine a giant cock flying towards your mouth, and there's nothing you can do about it. And you're like "Oh man, I'm gonna have to suck this thing", and you brace yourself to suck this giant cock. But then, at the last moment, it changes trajectory and hits you in the eye. You think to yourself "Well, at least I got that out of the way", but then the giant cock rears back and stabs your eye again, and again, and again. Eventually, this giant cock is penetrating your gray matter, and you begin to lose control over your motor skills. That's when the giant cock slaps you across the cheek, causing you to fall out of your chair. Unable to move and at your most vulnerable, the giant cock finally lodges itself in your anus, where it rests uncomfortable for 4, maybe 5 hours. That's what using a Mac is like.

The biggest reason I don't run Windows anymore? The registry. That shit-fest is the worst way I have ever seen to organize an Operating System. Gimme flat config files please.

When you bring a beautiful woman home, do you bend her over and insert a speculum in her ass to criticize the plumbing?

If you are ever going to be doing any IPhone app development you must have an Apple system to sign your apps, you cannot do it from a Windows driven PC.

I use Windows and Linux as my primary tools because they are a much, much better value, I purchased a used Macbook off Ebay and use it just for ios development.

I honestly never have a problem with any of the three operating systems - all three are very good.

Apple just nickels and dimes you to death, I guess they need the money for those nets at their factory.

Your current computer works just fine... This would be a much better use of your money!

Choose whatever OS you like.

Macs might cost more, but to me they're totally worth it. My workflow and productivity is a lot better than it is on windows or linux. I have a desktop with windows 7 that's at least 4x more powerful/faster than my Mac. But I do 99% of my work off my mac because I work a lot better. I earn about 4x more when working mostly on my mac, compared to when I tried to use my windows computer for a few weeks. Not saying windows isn't good, or mac is better. It's just better for me.

Specs don't mean shit when they're not efficient / productive for you.

This might be hands down, the most retarded fucking analogy I've ever heard. Congratulations.

I love the Windows hate. 7 is by far the best version of Windows ever. Lean, fast, stable. Have had no real issues with it. The biggest problem had been Skype on a 64 bit system, don't know what the fuck Microsoft is smoking but the latest version has cashed my rig twice.

Anyways that has nothing to do with the underlying OS. Save your money, build a bad ass Win 7 rig and call it a day. You can not beat price, performance, hardware and software compatibility. Build quality really doesn't matter as much on PC. Even on laptops it's marginal. Apple has a higher fail rate on laptops than some PC brand like ASUS is all I'm saying.

Slap in any components you want and Windows works is all I'm saying. Run a Linux dual boot and get everything.

Pretty sure this is a troll thread though.

Get lost n00b, PC != Windows. OSX can't even cut and paste a folder by default.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out if you're a troll or just painfully stupid.

In case you're painfully stupid there's a couple ways you can copy and a DIRECTORY.

cp -r <directory name> destination
right click -> copy then right click -> paste item
cmd + c then cmd + v

You should paste the output from uname -a so we can list off all the kernel exploits you're probably vuln to as well.

I 100% agree with you that Windows 7 is hands down the best OS Microsoft ever released. However, it really depends on how he uses his computer. If he is like me and spends most of his time in a shell then Windows (regardless how nice Windows 7 is) is a pain in the ass to use, because it's designed to be used as a GUI only. I grew up using DOS, System V, then Linux and the transition to OSX was pretty painless, because I can use it just like I use Linux. The only difference in my usage is actually being able to run the applications I want without a crap load of hacking.

Dickwad, what part of CUT and paste do you not understand?

Gone are the days of fucking around for weeks trying to get your sound, video and wireless to all work properly in linux (I don't think I've even touched an xorg config in over a year). There is the occasional short lag between driver releases, and realtek still suck dick at making working drivers, but otherwise, linux is pretty damn compatible these days.
