I read facebooks response / denial to it, then someone linked to Googles response /denial, and the responses were almost word for word identical. Which i thought was strange, given both companies status you'd think they'd both have teams of people writing up a very well thought out response, and not what seemed to be a response that they were told to give.
They both also denied any knowledge of PRISM, even though It's been widely reported for a while now.
It just pisses me off when large companies get off with spouting generic response bullshit, and the majority of the public lap it up. For example, in response to Zuckerbergs post on facebook about it, you have people saying shit like "Oh thank god. Mark you are an honorable man - I'd trust you with my data more than any other government, glad you oppose this"....
Or on Googles (identical) response - "We're lucky to have progressive companies like Google who are willing to say no to 'the man' and stand up for the little people like us. Thank you Google"...
...wtf. I'm beginning to think population reduction might be a good thing, narrow down the genetic pool a bit.

Yeap, since you know what secret technologies they have, it makes perfect sense for you to state this. Especially since they can have backdoor access to whatever device you use to keep your keys.
BTW, I agree with some other poster; I don't think this was leaked by accident. Either the powers that be are trying to push for a rep in office that is more 'war friendly' and ready for Iran, or they are gauging how much push back they get from this. My guess is the latter.

Even with quantum computing, once you get above 256bit encryption, it's still not feasible. Faster, yes, but we're talking years instead of millenia. And that is dependent on the notion that an advanced quantum computer even exists right now, which there is no real reason to believe beyond prototypes and theories.
That's exactly what I was told back in 01 or something like that when I was spouting off that nearly all US network traffic was being actively monitored, archived, and mined.
Presently it's all mined, stored, AND decrypted; SSL no SSL, doesn't matter. Can they do 2048 RSA? Probably, but they sure as hell can do 256 AES - who do you think created it?
The US government isn't in the habit of handing out tech to the world without getting something out of it. AES is the product of the NIST for those of you who don't know.
