I can't believe no one has started a thread about the NSA shit from this week...

There is no general-use encryption that isn't unencrypted in near real time by the NSA.

They could only do this if they have your key. Statistical methods can be applied to the encrypted stream to make a good guess about the nature of the data, but they are not brute-forcing it.

I read facebooks response / denial to it, then someone linked to Googles response /denial, and the responses were almost word for word identical. Which i thought was strange, given both companies status you'd think they'd both have teams of people writing up a very well thought out response, and not what seemed to be a response that they were told to give.

They both also denied any knowledge of PRISM, even though It's been widely reported for a while now.

It just pisses me off when large companies get off with spouting generic response bullshit, and the majority of the public lap it up. For example, in response to Zuckerbergs post on facebook about it, you have people saying shit like "Oh thank god. Mark you are an honorable man - I'd trust you with my data more than any other government, glad you oppose this"....

Or on Googles (identical) response - "We're lucky to have progressive companies like Google who are willing to say no to 'the man' and stand up for the little people like us. Thank you Google"...

...wtf. I'm beginning to think population reduction might be a good thing, narrow down the genetic pool a bit.

Blah, blah, blah, blah.

All this is rather boring. I'm done talking conspiracy theories with people who don't suspect power.

I used to be the type of dude who would be on a mission to "enlighten" friends and strangers about the direction this country (USA) is headed, hidden agendas, etc...

While I opened a few eyes, I mostly just annoyed the shit out of everyone. Lesson learned. Instead of trying raise awareness, I now just silently prepare myself for the future (we all know what's coming).

When I see the MSM reporting on shit I learned YEARS ago, I shrug it off. There's probably an agenda behind all the MSM hype anyway...

Fuck em, and fuck this thread.

That's just plain incorrect.

Yeap, since you know what secret technologies they have, it makes perfect sense for you to state this. Especially since they can have backdoor access to whatever device you use to keep your keys.

BTW, I agree with some other poster; I don't think this was leaked by accident. Either the powers that be are trying to push for a rep in office that is more 'war friendly' and ready for Iran, or they are gauging how much push back they get from this. My guess is the latter.

Carry on...

And people said I was crazy when I told them the government was going to mine facebook and google. I can't do shit about the government spying on us, but I can look at everyone and say I told you so.

I loved the way Obama was stammering and searching for words as he denied they were listening to the content of the calls: an Absolute tell of someone that is lying.

It doesn't have anything to do with secret technologies, it is about computational feasibility.

Mr. Greenwald said he has had to get up to speed in the security precautions that are expected from a reporter covering national security matters, including installing encrypted instant chat and e-mail programs.

“I am borderline illiterate on these matters, but I had somebody who is really well-regarded actually come and physically do my whole computer,” he said.

That computer is in Brazil, where Mr. Greenwald spends most of his time and lives with his partner, who cannot emigrate to the United States because the federal government does not recognize same-sex marriages as a basis for residency applications.

Left, right radio fume at NSA report - Mackenzie Weinger - POLITICO.com

“I think it’s an outrage,” Glenn Beck told POLITICO. “People need to wake up.”

Hellblazer, are you here? Why is Beck agreeing with a guy who writes for a European hippie newspaper and who lives in Brazil with his un-American homosex husband? Why isn't Mr. Beck instead standing up for national security and supporting our Christian family man President?

Is Glenn Beck a true American Patriot, or could he realy be a secret communist operative?

I wonder how much easier decryption would be with quantum computing...

Even with quantum computing, once you get above 256bit encryption, it's still not feasible. Faster, yes, but we're talking years instead of millenia. And that is dependent on the notion that an advanced quantum computer even exists right now, which there is no real reason to believe beyond prototypes and theories.

That's just plain incorrect.

That's exactly what I was told back in 01 or something like that when I was spouting off that nearly all US network traffic was being actively monitored, archived, and mined.

Presently it's all mined, stored, AND decrypted; SSL no SSL, doesn't matter. Can they do 2048 RSA? Probably, but they sure as hell can do 256 AES - who do you think created it?

The US government isn't in the habit of handing out tech to the world without getting something out of it. AES is the product of the NIST for those of you who don't know.

And that is dependent on the notion that an advanced quantum computer even exists right now, which there is no real reason to believe beyond prototypes and theories.

You mean except for the QC system purchased and in use by NASA and Google, right? :ak::ak: OR the one at Cambridge?

Define 'decrypted'

Good vid.

She does miss one of the easiest tells: In a truthful statement your voice will trail off (not emphasize) the last word in your sentence. When you lie the volume of your voice will increase on the last word of your deceptive sentence. Try it yourself - have someone ask you how old you are and then lie to them, you'll see that indeed the volume of your voice increases as you say the fake number... I'm 21.

Clinton was very well rehearsed btw. A born liar?
