Fuck Partnerships I'm Done

Sorry to hear but why wasn't there a corporate entity with all partners owning shares and all assets/payment/bank accounts under that company? You still might have gotten screwed but it would have been harder to hide monthly financial reports and bank deposits without committing serious fraud.

very good point. not so much about the owning shares part, but insofar as the accounting, did you have an underling handling the books or (god forbid) was it handled by the partner that wound up crooked? because it certainly wasn't handled by you, unless he was diverting biz to another entity, which doesn't seem likely if he was trading on your collective name. there's no way anyone handling the finances would've missed what he was doing.

Because he's there and I'm here. His role
was to generate leads and close the deals, mine was to coordinate and
perform the actual job.

He was on top of you.

He had 2 important roles (generating leads and closing it) and with that I
can tell you that you were working like as employee not partner or may be
he was simply outsourcing you with tag "FOR PARTNER"

Now you have his email address, you have the capability to complete the
work so hire someone who can write killing offer to those clients and
capitalise what he was not providing earlier.

Welcome to the Ground Reality

Shit happens. Let go off the anger. Don't waste time getting revenge if you can help it.

Try to fix it and work something out with your partner. It sucks, but why ruin a long time relationship so quick? Its not like your next partner is gonna turn out to be an angel.

There was no partnership at there ... though OP assume it was

It was simply employee and employer relationship ... Remember his/her partner
was in dominating position - He had 2 important roles (generating leads and closing it)

Ah fuck. So, I've had some whiskey, which I'll now dedicated to you.

I remember reading a book saying "if you learn more from the mistake than it cost you, it might actually become brilliant."

How that "brilliant" may be a stretch, I'll be honest with you, I've never learned more from anything than a mistake.

I am thankful to say I've never felt the depths of betrayal you're facing, however I will learn from this, and forever remember babygotbacklinks.

Have an old-school laugh on me:

I know, but I'm just saying she should reconsider "fucking it"

there are alot of names for that tactic. bending over, taking it up the ass, becoming a slave... many others. you may be that kind of man, but i've gotten the impression OP isn't that kind of woman.

IMO, if you haven't burned the bridges yet, keep the "partnership" alive for the money.
Build a new structure with appropriate controls in place so there is no repeat of past mistakes and search for a new sales guy/girl.

New structure with new branding gets exposed to your existing customers as you bring it up to speed.

Everyone gets screwed in business, don't dwell on the past mistakes, build it better for the future.

Dont waste your energy thinking about it. Just get back on the horse and kick ass.

I've experience a couple moments like this and always made sure I come out on top. Do what you can strategically; dont take it close to the heart.

Leeches will be leeches.

Partnerships often scewup. so nevermind that. You learn from each mistake you make in life. Next time you enter into a Joint Venture, make sure to have a legal binding. but for now all you can and you should do is walk away.

You do realize you're slinging ONE license of a $140 software in your sig, right?
Yes, obviously this is my new business. I will sell one XF license and then retire from IM.

You have found me out. Thanks for your excellent business advice Kiopa Matt.

Thankfully all my partners com[pany emails automatically get forwarded to me. Plus I know he won't fuck me over.

Most people screw each other over, but I'd rather get run over by a car then fuck over my best friends. Higher consciousness yo

perhaps I am, but whatever works for somebody. right

I know we are all tough guys (and gals?) here and on the internet in general, but I wouldn't suggest burning down the entire thing so quick because he stole some % of her profits. Better to try to sort it out with him somehow.

Not matter what others are saying, partnerships are still a great way to get shit running. Combine talents, commit to a plan and make shit happen. You can't always just buy skills or hire the best guy out there.

Take it just as my 1 cent ;)

First rule in business.
1) Dont make business with real friends.
I have so many failed project for the same reason. Rely more on you and make the difference with friendship and business.

There a lot of Nicholo Machiavelli principles that can be applied in business. Get a such book really helps :)

You can interpret it the way you like but OP is clear that they committed to equal profit sharing, so I wouldn't think so.
