Stimulus scams are already underway, with phony claims about how to collect - Consumer Affairs with Sheryl Harris - Cleveland.com


"The plethora of Web sites haven't escaped the notice of the Federal Trade Commission, which plans a Wednesday press conference to address the topic.
In reality, the government generally gives grants to umbrella groups, not individuals. Information on government grants is available at no charge through the official government grant Web site, Grants.gov.

Play it safe and stick with the official site or get stimulus news from familiar news sites like this one. "

It would be nice if the affiliates running the fake blogs would be held accountable as well. There's so many of those copycat blogs that it's drawing too much attention.

Well there's enough sites/offers out there that go for the stimulus angle, so it could be both. But I definitely agree with the stimulus/grant difference. I would be surprised if tomorrow is going to focus on grants in general, vs. the sites that make it sound as if there is some stimulus going on for the avg. user.

Yea in facebook I have been seeing 2 fake blogs run at the same time about their check. Like johnsgrantblog and nicolesfreemoney or something.
