Within the last 2 months, many affiliates have been working on getting into Mobile Marketing on the cell phone, specially by promoting the IQ quiz on the Iphone.

Our biggest lead was admob.com for this space. Admob is not the only player in mobile space and I will be posting its competition in this thread as we do more testing. For those of you who don't know admob, admob is the place where you'd get your traffic if you were to promote the IQ quiz on Iphone cell phones for the USA, UK and CA.

I know for a fact, there is massive potential in this space and I feel it's not talked about much just yet. I know 5 to 10 guys doing pretty good profit with admob. (20cents epc on IQ)

I know that with IQ there's been some compliance requirements etc. (as usual)

Having said this, for those of you who use admob, what is your feedback/comments/questions about it.

Also, do you believe we (all of us here) should be looking into and invest more in the mobile space or is it still too premature for affiliate marketing.

Thoughts ?

My thoughts are you just outed a nice traffic source good job thumbs up for you. Why would ask people on a forum like this there thoughts? Have someone take the time to do there own research on finding good traffic sources for potenital offers. There thoughts are thanks for the idea. Now i will rape your traffic source. And mobile offers are soooo 2007 where have you been with the all the carrier TOS crackdowns?

you didn't out a traffic source. If anyone is doing or looking into doing mobile marketing then they already work with or will hear of admob.

IMO, mobile marketing is a totally different beast and it will not be an easy bridge for smaller affiliate marketers. Atleast, as most platforms sit right now.

yea, not too cool to out a traffic source imo. won't be working w/ yep! that's for sure.

It is a totally different game. I tried AdMob to promote an offer, spent $100 in 5 minutes to get about 500 clicks without One Single Conversion....BTW, it is a free sign-up offer. A lot of european marketers have been in mobile marketing game for years and North America is far behind Europe and Asia.

Good luck doing .20 epc on admob for iq quiz offers. They have revised their terms regarding these offers.

Hello,

AdMob's top priority is to deliver the best possible results for our advertisers, publishers, and developers, as well as a great experience for the end users who view and interact with AdMob served ads. While we appreciate your business, we feel that the costs and terms of the subscription associated with your ads are not being clearly presented to users during typical use of the sites your ads direct to.

Because of this, we have temporarily paused your ads until the conditions and terms for the offer your ads direct to are being presented to users in an overt manner. Here are the main guidelines that you must change your landing pages to follow:

1) On the page where the quiz asks for the phone number to be entered, the price must be visible before/above the field to enter the phone number.
2) The price must be easily distinguishable (meaning the contrast is high) from the background or any image where the pricing resides.
3) The terms and conditions must start above the fold, but may continue below the fold.
4) The user must have the option to accept/reject the charge by short code, etc… once they’ve entered the phone number

Any ads that you need to correct will now appear as "Pending Approval" in your account. Let us know if there are any further questions on this, we would be glad to help. We would be happy to review any update made to the ad or landing page that would further disclose the conditions of the offer your ads present.

Best regards,

AdMob Support

Nice. Where else are your publishers seeing success?

Maybe you could provide a spreadsheet with all traffic sources.

Thanks!

wow didnt even realize they were a network i would be pissed if i was one of your pubs promoting on that traffic source jeez!

Agreed 100%.

To all the guys thinking admob was a secret until this thread was made, I am glad you are getting educated by reading this, you obviously haven't touched mobile marketing. Admob was all over the news last year when they received major funding from Sequioa capital. It's pretty much the largest mobile marketing platform in the world. Kinda hard not to know it exists when you are looking into mobile marketing. ;)

I did some testing with AdMob to various mobile offers, some of it with YEP and I for one don't see this as them "outing" a traffic source.

My experience with AdMob;

- You can get TONS of shitty, bottom-of-the-barrel, non-converting, traffic for very cheap - very quickly.
- Increasing CPCs seems to up the traffic quality somewhat, but for most offers it becomes a tight balancing act to squeeze out any ROI worth running.
- AdMob is veeeeery sloooooow to approve ads
- Expect to wait 4-5 days for answers on email support
- The only way to set up billing is through adding funds to your account, so no option to set up a cc for regular billing that I've seen yet

Going into mobile, and starting out with a traffic source like AdMob is gonna be tough for n00bs especially. Hard enough to make it profitable even for guys who've done mobile for a while, IMO.

I do plan on checking out some of those other networks though.

I think the platform as potential, but needs more time to mature. Not to mention mobile offers still need to mature. For example, there are only a couple of iPhone-tailored offers as of yet. And as always, mobile compliance crap always cuts down on the fun. :)

I'm sure we will see more offers (and more matured mobile traffic networks) in the time to come though.

^^ what he said.. Outing a traffic source is a big NO-NO!

Don't tell anyone but there is this new thing called Bing converts really good. I hope I don't get banned for outing a traffic source.
