I think you underestimate the cowardice of politicians on both side of the aisle. All they care about is getting elected to another term. The bluedogs will not pass a Taxpayer Funded Abortion in the Health Bill. The liberals, they have no backbones so I see your point that it may still pass if the liberals just go for anything to say they did.
But right now the liberals are barking about not voting for the bill if it does not allow taxpayer funded abortions.

So you don't find it a bit hypocritical to support abstinence until marriage, when you yourself did not follow it? Cut the hyperbole on fisting seminars. You know as well as I do that abstinence-only education in today's day and age has done nothing but make people uneducated on how to be safe.

I don't think we have enough data nationwide to make determinations on the efficacy of abstinence education. Ideally, I don't think the government should have any role in telling children or teens about anything sexually related. The whole thing is kind of creepy. The whole "they're gonna do it anyways, so let's 'educate' them" was clearly a slippery slope which climaxed(pardon the pun) in Kevin Jennings' nice little experiment.
Then again, I would prefer that all schools be privately-run with low enough costs that virtually all children could attend them. Anything the government touches generally turns to shit, with the exception of the military(although look at what that's becoming now).
But that would eliminate a voting bloc for the Dems, so we can't have that, can we? Might as well keep pouring tax-dollars into a proverbial black hole and keep whining about how teachers are underpaid.
The hypocrisy argument is a tired and one that's been flogged to death. I suppose people can't support the war in Iraq without being in the military either, right? Or one can't support saving people from burning fires without joining the local fire rescue branch? Or perhaps I should go work at the local nuclear power plant, since I advocate for nuclear power too?

I simply started an atheist music thread (I had zero intentions of debating atheism)... I posted music...others were posting "music"...you cast the very first stone in this ENTIRE shit storm. I then make a response. (If you found my taste in music offensive you could have easily "turned the other cheek" and simply not have clicked on my thread)
Just as you find my atheist music post offensive I could have just as easily found your Christian music thread offensive.
Thread continues....next stone cast by Nostalgae, then another by you, then another by S3PER.
Deliguy comes in and acts totally Christ-like in his actions (you guys should look up to him). He contributes.
In the meantime, while I'm responding to all the stones cast upon me. Deliguy creates an entirely different thread titled Good Christian Bands. I make a post making everyone aware that there is now a new thread for Christian Bands. (I end up making several CONTRIBUTIONS here and here....myself to this new Christian Band Thread, I actually contributed to your side, so novel.)
After.... I've politely made people aware of the Christian thread and have responded to S3PER, you, nostalgae and another guy...rusky who cast his very own first stone here......I take a break.

Simplistic and impossible, if not fascist. Do we say, atheism and government should not mix? Both are belief-based ideologies. Logic, facts and statistics should be the benchmark, not some bigoted bias towards somebody's religion.
You were doing fine when arguing the efficacy of abstinence as a policy. But to argue against a policy simply because the person advocating it adheres to a particular religion is bigoted and closedminded.
The Constitution said there shall be no establishment of religion. That also means there should be no disestablishment of religion. And the 'separation of church and state' which you hear piously bandied about so often, while not actually in the Constitution, was Jefferson's creation specifically warning against the government persecuting adherents of a specific religion. The kind of persecution, I might add, whose shadows temporarily emerged in the language of discriminating rhetoric you just displayed.
Both you and Palin no doubt want similar things; to reduce the teenage pregnancy rate. You simply differ on how to go about it. Take away your prejudice towards her religious beliefs and you'd find the two of you have a lot more in common than you probably think.
