U.S. Deficit: Higher Taxes Needed to Cut Rising Debt - Yahoo! News

I'm so sick of fucking taxes. We probably spend 70 cents of every dollar
earned on some form of tax (income, state, sales, property, gasoline, etc.
etc. etc.)

A similar strategy for managing a growing mountain of debt on this side of the Atlantic might work, with Washington increasing the top tax rate, say, from 35% to 45%. At the same time, rates could be increased by a smaller amount in lower brackets.

Here's a novel idea for all the fucking politicians: STOP SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY and maybe we could decrease our debt burden. Did that ever cross your fucking minds?

I'm so pissed off when I see this shit...

/end of rant

This country is done. I'd say it has another 10 years maybe before something drastic happens. Collapse, war, major political shift, something

Welcome to Europe.

I hate taxes as much as the next guy, but I really FUCKING HATE INCOME TAXES! We spend entirely too much. The finances of this country are FUBAR.

The old tax model no longer works in the US - the lines are too hard to distinguish.

Income taxes at the Federal level are a joke - it costs far too much to maintain the tax system.

At the state level it's even worse. Internet commerce has permanently blown away the vision of where a sale has occurred. States are losing sales tax because of it.

And state income tax is even more fucked. If I am sitting at home in WI - remoted into a computer in MN - and working with people in DC - who exactly am I supposed to be paying state taxes to for that work? Because no one seems to be able to get that right.

No tax model works. No tax model has ever lasted in perpetuity. They all have a start (yay, we are building things), a middle (entitlements) and an end (war, bankruptcy). And they always end when spending outpaces taxes, leading to the government collapsing under the weight of its own largesse.

The internet has changed a lot of things. Intellectual property, crowd sourcing, transparency, political activism, revisionist history, free trade, self-education. It upsets a lot of the static paradigms that a state needs to implement a social agenda which includes central planning and taxes.

One day, people will figure out what a farce taxes are. You always get back less than you are paying in, and the difference goes to subsidize a bunch of useless eaters (politicians, bureaucrats) who are a drag on society, instead of being contributing producers.

The thing I feel sorry about is, you guys (US citizens) can not even renounce your nationality to escape the oppression. You leave the US for greener pastures but IRS will keep taxing you 10 years after date. The US is one of the greatest places in the world... but personally if I'm required to donate 50-70%+ of my income to any government... excuse me but I'm out. Whatever benefit any politician offers will not make up the difference between 100k/y vs 30k/y net worth. I'll take 100k and plant my own fucking potatoes. Or employ a neighbor or two.

In EU this is easily done, only thing holding a person back being social ties. As a US citizen you guys are Fucked, on the world scale :/ a lot of honest[!] offshore accountants and banks, in fear of international pressure and sanctions don't even service US clients anymore, period.

Yeah the tax system sucks, bad. If/when taxes go up even more, I'm gonna put some serious effort into learning more about "legal tax avoidance". If I didn't have small children I would move to another country in a heartbeat. The US is great in some ways, but it's just bullshit to pay 50+ percent of your income in taxes. Complete bullshit.

High tax bracket (~avg 35% income tax) + 15% self employment tax + 10% CA state tax + 12.50% Los Angeles sales tax = 62 mothafuckin percent is what I'm paying. I'm reading Atlas Shrugged, and if anyone's read that book so many things are similar with it it's making my head spin.

Ya Bros, there are plenty of great places to live in this world. If you don't have a wife or kids, GTFO. I know I am.
