Ok, no one asked for my opinion, and none of you know me from jack-shit, but I'll tell ya anyway
This idea has been around forever in different forms. Back in the 90s plenty of sites that offered warez, to get access you had to click on three different banner ads, look at the 4th word in the 2nd paragraph, go back to the page and type them in, shit like that. That's one of the reasons most places now forbid you from telling your users to click on the ads.
I remember in '97 or so, a couple of porn password sites i visited did this. They had a list of banners and you had to use word X in one of their landing pages. What's funny is that the first two or three banner's magic passwords would never work. At the time, i thought it was because the site owner was too lazy to update his/her info. But, now i see that he was milking as many clicks as he/she could.

Oh, I also tried this idea with one of my porn sites I run, and a lot of money has been made from it. Since I already had 1-7K visitors per day coming through the site, this helped a lot on there.
7-8 hours. yeah sure it looks suspicious but still. damn! I wonder if someone sent them a compliant. I think it's possible cuz it wasn't a regular porn torrent but rather something that might make people a little bit angry ahah. don't ask please.

No shit. You were abusing the TOS with deceptive porn torrents & scripts. What did you expect?
As long as the offers were able to be used for incentive programs, i don't think it was any more deceptive than the offers he was probably steering them toward.
