The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.

About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said. "There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.

India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.
Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.

The ratio of murders as a result of guns in America, contrasting the high U.S. average (11,127 per year with a population of 303 million) to other "First World" countries such as Germany (381, 82 million citizens), France (255, 64 million citizens), Canada (165, 33 million citizens), the UK (68, 50 million citizens) and Japan (only 39 gun murders, with a population of 127 million people).

but keep pretending that the guns are not the reason...

and again, im not anti-american.
i also criticize the corrupt goverment in italy in the hands of berlusconi or the ladida president of france who cares more about his private life than his country. i also criticized yeltsin at the time he was president in russia and always threatened other countries when the economy was stable but shut the fuck up very quick every time his country needed money. putin did a good job but the russians are still a underdeveloped country where only very rich or absolutely poor exists. i also criticized norway under the regime of those white power nut jobs where one of the congress woman was a ex porn actress. china is still keeping bloggers prison or kill them for writing bad about their goverement. not to talk about korea where you never hear anything because you get killed straight away instantly if you say something wrong.

again, i'am not anti-american. i really like this country i just dont like the government keeping the american citizens uneducated to keep them under control, spreading altered informations and statistics and dont even tell america what they really do with all that money... did you ever asked yourself where 70 trillion dollar every year going to keeping the country deep in debt and why you have to pay a lot of money to get an international comparable average education for what you have to pay nothing or near to nothing in every other country?

i love my american buddies, i love the american company i work for and i love the american lifestyle but i'm criticizing your government and they way you just let them do what they do: keeping you quiet and frightened to open your mouth against them.

if you search in german for "shooting university" you only find news about shootings at US universities... it's kinda weird if you think about it, it's saver to go to college in every other country. i never heard of a shooting in a college in canada, mexico or anywhere else but if you search the news for those keywords you find page per page news about shootings at universities in america. we had shootings in schools in germany too but like, i cant remember, two since germany exists?

And if you search for "world wars started by Germany" you'll find that there are TWO of them... Oh yeah, Germany, the real FRIENDLY nation..

:error:

Canada, 10 million citizens? ... maybe 100 years ago. Try somewhere around 30mil.. numbers are a bit skewed, but I get your point.

It's just as easy to kill with a knife, should we get rid of all those too? I have plenty in my kitchen drawer! Uh oh!

Point is, if someone wants to kill someone, they will find a way to do it. Gun, knife, poison, dildo, whatever. Sucks that's there's 349,104,495,294 guns in every US neighborhood or whatever your fucknut statistic is, but whatever. People find the gun, acquire the gun, load the gun, pull the trigger. The gun doesn't find the person and make them pull the trigger.

Btw, I wonder if that statistic takes into account police officers and law enforcement. That would nullify it a bit wouldn't it. Interesting.

it would not. that would tell that your cops are fire like mad at people... oh i forgot they already do... :P
but it would explain why they replaced the guns with tazers.

it wouldnt nullify 11k death citizens killed by guns each year.

How many people were killed in TOTAL from World War I & II because of Germany's involvement.. including the German numbers?

Let's take a look!

Excluding the other Axis countries like Japan and even Italy, you know, just to be fair and shave off some numbers here...

worldwariideathsbycountbz8.png

Yeah... I'd say those numbers pale in comparison to ANY number, before or after WW2 for ANY country in ANY war or peace time. WWI was even worse right?

Germany Shmermany.. Just because 1/3 of the population in Germany are homosexuals now and they also have an explosion in growth of foreigners (Arab/Middle East) doesn't mean that you should assume it's safer. Less people, less land to cover. And even with that much smaller land mass and population, they were still capable of causing ASTRONOMICAL numbers of civilian deaths BY GUNS mostly.

This has gone so far off topic btw. Damn you Tobsn!

i know its off topic...

but its hilarious that nobody says anything about that bbc article or has anything to say about the other countries i mentioned... ;)

In related news, looks like another gunman killed 8 students in Jerusalem today.

Gunman opens fire in Jerusalem Jewish seminary - CNN.com

Seriously. wtf...

After 100+ palestinians killed in the last week, fuck knows how many more to come.

If you think it's dangerous sending ya kids in the US, UK, Germany or Israel, read this.

Nice stats Jon, but look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki... they killed how many million in one shot? ... without getting their hands dirty ... and people are still suffering 60 years later. The US definitely rules when it comes to killing.

Disagree. The real question is "how much longer would the war have gone on if the US hadn't nuked those two cities?".

I think human nature is human nature. I think it's hilarious that all of you are talking about the "US this" and "Germany that", yet if you sit down and think about it I guarantee you won't be able to find one legitimate difference among yourselves.

You've all got a head on your shoulders, and apparantly one massive e-cock as well. :D

Still sour over losing that Revolutionary War thing? Poor baby. I won't hold it against you so long as you guys keep sending us good flicks like Shaun of the Dead.
Because clearly you have had anything to do with any significant historical event. Oh wait, you haven't. You're just riding the wave set by your ancestors. Way to be awesome :)

A few weeks max. Japan was ready to surrender and the US leaders were well aware of that. They were also well aware that the effects would be felt for decades to come, just as the current regime knew that Iraq would go they way it has. These people aren't stupid.

Although you just did it yourself, you are right. We shouldn't be taking about "US this", "Germany that". We shouldn't judge an entire nation based on the actions of their leaders, past or present.

I do think we have many legitimate differences - and it's great that we can discuss them so easily and (mostly) civilly - but maybe we have more in common with each other than we do with our ruling elite.

Come on man, if you want to throw anything back at me look at Britain's history - we used to be top dog at slaughtering innocent people... In our day, we fucked up the world and did a much better job of it than the US has done over the last century or so. We pretty much eliminated entire indigenous populations for our own ends. Here's me condemning the US for using nukes, when without England the natives in Australia and America might actually have their own country.

Yeah, Shaun of the Dead is great! (If you like that, download Spaced.)

yeah... i knew that talking about statistics or similar topics are totaly a waste of time if you talk about america with americans... just forget it.

i just showed you the facts that your country is faking your daily stats and news and i can point you with your nose to the bad gun laws causing thousends of dead people each year i also could again try to mention the global peace index or i could also tell you again that education is free in every other country, you get even money FROM the country instead of paying them.
but i know it doesnt matter for you... statistics are wrong, other countries are worse and everything is fine.
i dont tell you that germany, the uk or any other country is perfect. i just want to let you know that a few things here are going wrong even if you dont want to believe it.

besides that, again, im not anti-american. i love america, i just came home from a football game and it was a lot of fun.

Show me a perfect country... yeah, that's what I thought. America is an easy target because we rock out so hard! That's a big slice of truth. Who wants to live in those other boring ass country's? Not even tobsn!

:music06:

There is a lot more serious shit going on in Africa, who gives a shit about altered stats? At least I don't have to worry about my family being raped and murdered in the night. So why all the hatred pointed at America? We kick ass, and you don't... Jealous motherfuckers! Hahaha

I will tell ya.... I live here in the USA and I have 3 children and it scares me to death sending them to school everyday. This country is so nuts with guns and it just seems like no-one wants to fully take control of the situation!

I cannot wait to go back home to the UK where I don't have to sit and worry all day when my kids are at school. At least the English have more control over the gun situation. The Americans can learn alot from the English!!

It really disgusts me, all these children (our future) being murdered for no apparent reason at all. I mean even if there was a reason, no-one deserves being murdered!! I think they should line up everyone they catch that has murdered someone and kill them the same way that they killed their victims... Sad I know, but that is how I feel on the subject :(

Are you fucking kidding me? You are in for a shock when you come back here because, yeah, maybe you won't get a bullet in your face but knife crime is ridiculous, and it's schoolkids who are the ones carrying them (mostly for protection). Putting aside the fact that Nottingham and Manchester have horrendous gun crime statistics (recently huge crowds of bastards waving weapons walked through a suburb of Manchester to taunt the police) your little darlings will have to put up with the disgusting amount of bullying that happens in schools here. Why? Because everyone thinks "oh it's just kids being kids." No. It's young people (boys in particular) walking down the street and getting set upon and beaten up for no reason at all EVEN IN POSH AREAS. I have seen this with my own eyes, and where I live the police do not even turn up if the caller is a young male. In a bizarre situation there is a kids park that is a no-go area for teens at night, yet I can walk across there no trouble because the gangs of thugs are only targeting those who aren't getting heard. It's only when this spills out into the lives of adults (e.g. those 2 fathers who were kicked to death for confronting these little shits) that the papers give a damn. The uk is the drugs dustbin of the world, so it's cheaper to get high than to go to the cinema. Oh and btw, not only are there now yellow school buses like the american ones but there are now proms and metal detectors in a lot of secondary schools....or high schools as they are sure to become. All I have to say about gun crime is read As Used On The Famous Nelson Mandela by Mark Thomas.</p>

Mark Thomas is great! I'll try and dig that out, sounds interesting.

Did you see Panaroma last week? The stuff going on in Leicester (where I'm originally from) seems to be working and actually reducing anti-social behaviour by re-establishing a sense of community within deprived areas.

As for drugs... I think a lot of us will agree on that one - prohibition doesn't work. A lot of the politicians know that, but only the libdems here (and Ron Paul in the States) are prepared to say anything about it.
