If it's a poor college student or single mom waiting tables (while getting paid below minimum wage), sure I'll tip. I'm all for helping.

However, WHAT THE FUCK is up with this tipping bullshit everywhere.

The other day my friends and I were at the strip club. Mother fuckin' usher walked 15 steps, showed us our seats and repeatedly said: "Hey guys, I'll appreciate it if you take care of me".

Twice.

I gave him the "Nigga, are you serious?" stare down before he slinged away.

Then it became somewhat customary to tip the guy that cuts your hair. Then the taxi driver. Next thing you know, you should tip the doctor for your colon examination.

(BTW, I'm not tipping the fucking taxi driver, the guy charges me $3.50 the moment I sit down in the cab)

I only tip for exceptional service, or when the waitress gives me a blowjob. (whichever comes first) so don't expect a fucking tip because you cut my hair, mowed my lawn, or poured my drink.

I dream one day people will do a decent job SIMPLY because they're paid to do so, not because they're expecting a tip.

It won't happen but hey! I can dream, can't I? :2drinkspit:

PS: I've been to 5 strip clubs or so, and every time there's a black man sitting in the washroom (Some peeps call them "washroom attendants")

Can someone explain to me why it's always a black guy? I'm confused. Also, does the female washroom have a bathroom attendant?

went to Quiznos the other day. There was a tip jar and a line for a tip on the CC receipt. FML

You're absolutely right. It's gotten to the point where you have to set your own policy instead of just tipping anyone who wants tip because now they all shamelessly do.

My policy:
Tip the people who bring you something- waitresses, bartenders etc.
Tip the people who put up with you while drunk: drunk cab rides and party hosts
Tip the people who know your name when you walk in the door: mom and pop shops and other service people who you do regular business with.

Try living in a country where people give you shit services anyway and expect nothing in return.

Tip them, you'll get robbed walking down a few blocks.

but yea, the culture's BS.

"Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver food. I can drive a taxi. I can, and do, cut my own hair. I did however, tip my urologist, because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones."

LOL fuckin' Dwight... I actually agree with that statement to an extent. Why should I tip the Starbucks Barrista for pouring my coffee? I pay $1.85 already. Fuck that!

my favorite is the hotel room service bills with 20% tip included and then a line for "Extra Gratuity" which leaves you tipping like 40% if you dont catch it.

Happened to me for a week in Maui before I caught it.

When I was in Asia, and went to the karaoke bar, the service was fine. Same thing for other restaurants, it's quick and prompt -- because they want returning customers, don't they?

Tipping is an UK/American thing. Is it because the people are lazy and expect extra money to work quicker?

I'm not hating anyone. I just hate bullshit.

tipping at Quizno's or Moe's is like tipping at Subway or McDonalds. Unnecessary and just a guilt trip. They get paid at least minimum wage - it's not like wait staff that makes $2.25 an hour.

I've never really understood the whole idea behind tipping if someone is just doing their job. I've always thought of it as a way for business to pass labor costs to consumers. However, if someone does do a great job, or goes above and beyond what is generally expected I will most definitely tip.

My reason's for Tipping:
1. You make me a good strong drink, and keep them coming.
2. Friendly, clean service at some sort of sit down eatery. (fast is nice but im never in a hurry so I don't care about it)
3. At the car wash, ONLY if I see no dirt anywhere on the car, and if you hand dry the fucker.
4. As Eli said, if your drunk and disorderly tip the taxi drive a buck or two for getting you home safe.
5. If you clearly go above and beyond your duties to make my life easier and less stressful.

I'm a very generous tipper, i have no problem with it, but one thing that does bother me is $100-$200 bills for 2 people. I think a tip should be $2-5 dollars a person no matter what kind of food they bring to you. It's not like their doing more work when they bring you a $100 plate of seafood and a $5 burger. That's always bothered me, what really bothers me at the fancy restaurants were they "expect" 20% like 15-18% is for dennys only.

Is tipping your AM common?

Edit: what he said above me

There is no tipping culture here in Australia, if someone asked for a tip the most likely response would be "you're dreamin mate"

I know it's a bit different here than in the states, but it pisses me off when restaurants include the tip in the bill.. Fuck off, I'll happily tip 9 times out of 10 but I don't want you assuming a tip and relying on the fact that most customers won't ask for it to be removed.

Cabs, it's usually keep the change - around 10-20% I guess.

Years ago I was waiting and we got taxed on our tips - had to declare how much we got each year (everyone understated it), and they adjusted the tax code. Is that the same in the US?

The only people worth giving tips to are strippers.

Period.

Tipping strippers without a doubt is the only rewarding one. Some do use the money for a boob-job but as an investment for bigger tips.

Yeah the best are the dudes standing in the bathroom and want you to tip them for handing you a paper towel. WTF?

There shouldn't be any extra guys standing around in a men's bathroom - if you're not pissing or shitting gtfo

Every time I've been to a Starbucks those mother fuckers have a tip jar out. For what? Ripping me off for my morning coffee? Hence why I rarely ever go there.

I tip waitresses / waiters (because it's their line or work), strippers (cuz I have titties in my face), and taxi drivers (because we really don't have them where I'm from, and I'm told I should tip them even though they are raping me). I would also tip my caddie, because that's what they live on (I was a caddie for a few years at a world class course).

But in general, tipping mother fuckers is bullshit.

Have you ever gone on a cruise? You have to fucking tip everyone from the second you pull up to the second you leave, a reason I will never go on another.
