Anyone else tired of this "tipping culture" bullshit?

i tip a washroom attendant $10 if the bar is busy. then next time i need to piss i skip the line and they will beat a fucker down to give me vip seats to the piss show.

tipping a bellman is the best practice EVER. those guys know how to get you whatever you need whenever you need it, so long as "what you need" isnt to bring a hooker back to life.

was entertaining in manhattan a few years ago and wanted to get some bottles up to my room. they were going to charge me bottled water rate ($7 bucks) for a case of water. fuck that.

went downstairs, gave the bellman $300 and a list (goose, some beers, water, etc) told him to go to town. he came back 40 minutes later with all my shit and $50 bucks in change. let him keep the $50 plus another $50 but what did I care? he saved me a few hundred bucks.

I basically never tip in Spain, maybe .25 euros if they were good, but thats it. But.... it's normal!

Then again, they don't have "tip" dependent jobs like in the US.

Back when I used to bartend in this pretty slamming club (by Idaho standards anyway) and it was full capacity, 8-20 deep at the bar, you weren't even getting looked at unless you'd been tipping all night long. I'd straight up look past a non tipper to hook up someone I know is gonna kick an extra $20 when I got done pouring him and his friends 5 shots. Don't like it? This 300# gentleman will help you secure priority placement on the sidewalk. (Tip out your bouncers above and beyond bartenders, you can get the trash tossed with one look.)

Just sayin'.......you don't make $400 a night grabbing beers for fuckers that don't tip.

I'm a very generous tipper, but sometimes people piss me off. I went to a bar once and before the guy even served me my drink, he's like "you do realize I work for tips, right?"

Look nigga, how about you shut the fuck up, and make my drink first? Hell, I tip about the same amount as the drink by default but when you think it's a right, I'm not gonna give you shit. I'm sure after 5-6 drinks of no tip this guy got the hint, and another bartender started serving me. Really messed up my night.

I hate the places where tip is already added on to the bill. That's less incentive for people to work hard. I've gotten people that completely fucked up my orders and gave me awful service that got a 20% tip regardless. Bullshit.

I think in Japan it's considered disrespectful if you tip somebody.

One of my most important rules is: If they ask for a tip they get nothing.

I hate nothing worse then when somebody that just did nothing for me keeps standing in front of me and trying to guilt me into donating money to him.

Ditto that, if someone expects it, they're not getting it.

When I worked in the restaurant in college, they served drinks.

We waitresses always gave a portion of our tips to the bartenders and busboys - because we knew that's how we got our drinks out quickly AND because they'd go chase down kids who tried to walk on their checks. In that place, we had to cash our our drawers at the end of the shift - if somebody walked on a check we'd have to pay for it or take it out of our "insurance" fund.

It was like protection money, and worth it.
