I feel like I'm always having trouble going to sleep. It used to be real bad but it has gotten better. I used to go to bed around 2-4AM because I couldn't fall asleep. Recently I've been going to bed around 12-2AM. Sometimes I would take something, like benadryl, that I know will make me exhausted in a few hours, but I can't imagine that being healthy. Besides, every time I do take benadryl and my alarm clock goes off, I think I'm late for something and I have no clue whats going on.

When I wake up I just feel exhausted and feel like going back to bed. I wake up around 8:45 to leave the house at 9. That's sometimes 7-8 hours of sleep, which should be plenty. I try to get the most possible sleep so I wake up like 10-15 mins before I have to leave.

Has anyone had trouble sleeping or feel exhausted waking up every single morning? Have you fixed this, if so, how?

Try melatonin. Works for my wife.... can pick it up in any drug store.

And assuming you aren't a lazy ass you might just need more sleep. Everyone is different. I want 8 hours every time my head hits the pillow. The good part about working for yourself is that you get to set those hours :)

Workout
Meditate
Melatonin
5-HTP
Valerian root extract

Also: read about adrenal gland fatigue. what worked for me was going to sleep at 10pm every day, and getting up at 8am. I know it's a lot. And you do feel even shittier at the beginning, but that's how you cure your adrenal gland. six month later I was much much better.

lol just smoke weed before bed.

who doesn't like getting stoned to sleep?

it's also a great way to end the day

Melatonin should definitely do the trick. Once you take it (5mg then go up as needed) then when your tired, go sleep! Don't do / think about anything else, because once it wares off you'll probably need to take it again.

Alright I'll check Melatonin out, thanks.

I run every other day but not till late afternoon. Maybe I'll also try running every day but later so it will help make me tired. Sometimes I would take a perc and that would get me to sleep in a couple hours.

see a doctor?

</thread>

I did and I got surgery because I was getting headache's when going to bed and waking up.

This happens to me on a daily basis, the all day fatigue is the worst. I went to the doctor and it turns out I have sleep apnea. I had 2 sleep study's done, they gave me a c-pap machine to use while i sleep and I have never felt better. Do yourself a favor and go see the doctor.

Cant fall asleep, but wake up early. Sipping on my coffee right now with only 3 hours of sleep. It does help to clear my head by putting ideas and a to do list the night before on paper to help fall asleep. Oh yeah a cup of sleeping tea with Valerian root comes me down right before bed.

This is how sleep works for me,

If I go to bed regularly at 12, I'll be able to sleep at that time any day. I always fall asleep to a book, stuff that really stretches your mind works best. The harder the read, the more exponential the effect.

If I go to bed at 3am and wake up at 7am one day, it will only 'catch up' to me the next sleep cycle(where I can still fix it). The problem is If I keep going to bed at 3am, my cycle is fucked and I have to force myself to stay up and not nap all day so I can go to bed at 12 and return to a normal cycle.

I've never had sleep troubles since I figured out at a very young age that reading puts me to sleep IF my cycle is regular. I'd wager most people are like me and just don't see the cycles/methods as simple as me and get frustrated when they go to bed.

I like nytol, or diphenhydramine hydrochloride same thing just with a name.

Take 2 of them lay in bed for 20 mins and then I am out.

I found melatonin stopped working, which is weird because it just is occurring in your body to help regulate circadian rhythm, but if you stay up weird hours maybe the rhythm gets destroyed to a point that it cannot be fixed with short term pills.

Realistically it comes down to sleeping and waking up at somewhat the same time day in and day out, being somewhat active, and eating somewhat decently.

i also have insomnia, i can't help it, i sit in bed analyzing thinking of strategies for things years / decades ahead for hours before i fell asleep, exercising helped me for a while, ins tead of 3 hours got it down to one hours, also tried this ebook 6 years ago or so Powerful Sleep - Sleep Less and Have More Energy (i'm not involved in that site at all) that also helped me a bit, suggested to buy an energy light that replicates sunlight. i'll search my harddrives to see if i still have the ebook and post a link, but think it's on one of my many old hard drives so don't hold your breathe.

that also helped me a bit, suggested to buy an energy light that replicates sunlight.

I picked up one of these recently:

Bright Light Therapy with Day-Light

I think the idea is that you use it for 20-30 minutes every morning.

Can't speak as to its long term effects as I've only just started using it, but it does seem to give me some energy.

I basically got it to help correct my sleep cycle, as my body wants to go to bed at 5am and wake up in the afternoon.

I had the same problem, only worse. I would go to bed around 12 and fall asleep at 3-4am, then sleep 10-14 hours a day and wake up exhausted and still sleepy. I went to the doctor and she tried to prescribe me unti-depressants, which I didn't take.

I would work till 12 on some project and keep on thinking about it till 3-4am while laying in bed. Sometimes I would even get back up and code more till 3-4 to fix/edit something so I can stop thinking about it. I even had dreams where I code all night, wake up and feel like I never stopped working.

I am better now, fall asleep around 12 and wake up at 8. I just started to work a lot less and get out of the house/do fun things more. Basically, got a life, stopped working more than 10 hours a day and stopped stressing about things. I sold the sites that require a lot of maintenance to free up the time. Yeah, my earnings went down, but I feel a lot better now.

I think you may be depressed from working or being around pc too much. I'd take a week off to relax and go somewhere, do something fun, may be it will help.
