I use my Aeron for 14+ hours a day, don't exercise, and I have no back pain. I've been using the Aeron for 7 or 8 years.
I think switching for one month and not seeing results is faulty reasoning. If your back is fucked up, even switching to a good chair isn't going to help your back right away unless you repair the problems you have first. Back problems are chronic and difficult to fix for the most part.
Well ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you, that exercise ball hurt like hell too (after about an hour). So I woke up this morning and hit a few stores. In all I probably sat on 100+ chairs (some $2k chairs), and get this shit, the best chair I found was on sale at Office Depot for $39.
I bought the fabric version of this chair: Alvy Vinyl Task Chair 40 1 4 H x 24 3 4 W x 28 1 4 D Black by Office Depot
Maybe it's my bony ass, I don't know, but this chair just fits really well. The back support is exactly where I need it to be. I'm going on six hours and have no pain at all... something I could never have done with the Herman Miller or previous chairs I've owned.
^ Thanks for those links, I've bookmarked them in case I need them.
I've been in this $39 chair for two days now and don't have any back pain at all.
Back's good... ass must be sweaty from the vinyl though. Blech.
No arms is a plus but the back on that thing is so low it would drive me nuts. I like to lean back, rest my head, and relax.
Did you try the Obusforme?
You do realize all the expensive chairs that have been mentioned take a fair bit of tuning to get right for your particular physique, right? You can't just plunk your ass down and hope that it's going to be a perfect fit. It's not something you mentioned, but how much time did you spend on setting up your Aeron?
Show floor models aren't going to be tuned up for you either.
