I have notised that a lot of people use AIM/MSN and etc. but don't use skype? Whats up with that?

we all use skype and chat regularly while working at night. It makes the work go by less boringly (if thats a word).

skype: elirunslikeagirl

But when I need work , I ask for persons skype , and he tells me " AIM only.., or email." :/ this is lame

I only had AIM up until last month so it might be a legit response...or maybe they just don't like you.

I get frustrated by the same thing. I wish everyone had the same messenger, instead I now have skype (which I prefer), MSN, Google talk, Yahoo messenger, AIM...all because different people use different shit.

aim skype ventrillo irc and facebook. there are really no other reasons to have any of the other messangers in my opinion

Skype is best

Wikipedia said:
Skype is a secure communication; encryption cannot be disabled, and is invisible to the user. Skype reportedly uses non-proprietary, widely trusted encryption techniques: RSA for key negotiation and the Advanced Encryption Standard to encrypt conversations.

if you were ever wondering why Skype racks up a shit-ton of connections....

While I've not tried Digsby, they've been pretty open and forthcoming about their revenue model and, from what I understand, it's entirely opt in.

Here's a blog post about it... Digsby Blog Build 62 – Crystal Clear!

And another... http://blog.digsby.com/archives/68

From their FAQ...

Why is Digsby free?
  • We show you ads during installation for optional software. You can decline the offers and still install Digsby.
  • We use your CPU's idle time to conduct computational research. You can opt out of this as well. Learn more here.
  • There is a detailed explanation of the above items in one of our blog posts here.

I have had my AIM account since 1997. Skype wasn't even started until 2003.

I have a Skype account, but I have rarely had a reason to sign in so far.

I am signed into AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and ICQ at almost all times with Pidgin on my computer or BeejiveIM on my BlackBerry.
