Best take on Israel and Palestine bullshit

I'm for protecting Israel, but having it one sided towards Israel (as always in the right) is naive. I mean, Israel (and its allies) did displace a people, and not expecting constant retaliation has to be expected, no? That place will never be peaceful.

Solution: Give Palestinians a state in the US and problem solved ;)

Hamas is a recent organization, how do you guys rationalize abusing the Palestinians for 45 years?

No matter how bad one makes the Palestinians out to be, this isn't the first time people have used violence against an occupation.

The Irish did the same to the English. The Irish weren't Muslims, but rather Catholics.

The American founders used violence against the British King, because they saw him as an occupying force. They actually staged a revolution.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

If we all had freedom, we wouldn't need terrorism.

Look at the comment that dreamache left to get an idea of my own views on the "rights" of "nations" to boss people around.

States can always come up with "laws" supporting whatever they want to do. Germany's laws allowed the holocaust to happen.

Israel is in violation of international law according to The United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Court of Justice and the High Contracting Parties, and "the majority of legal scholars."

Give me a break. :hollering: The Pope, The Red Cross, the Dalai Lama, and plenty of Jews also point out the type of things I have. I suppose you believe they also support terrorism?

I'm well aware that both sides have done bad things. You're the one that seems to be arguing that one particular side has done no wrong and/or that "nations" should be able to have a "legal right" to do whatever they want.

I'm not sure what thing or way you are talking about.

So you reject the legitimacy of nations, but you affirm the legitimacy of United Nations rulings?

Are you aware that everything the UN does is predicated on the premise that nation-states are legitimate, and that nation-states gain much of their 'illegitimate' power thanks to the UN, which you support?

You must be trolling us.

The UN was created by nation states. It doesn't give them any legitimacy.

Let's try something new today. If you can't reason logically, don't post.

That would clean up dozens of these discussions and probably raise the quality of forum discussion to the heavens.

But this is not true. Jews and Christians live in other middle eastern countries relatively peacefully.
Which middle eastern countries are those?

As far as I know they did okay in Lebanon and Egypt until things went seriously south for them when muslim .govs came into power. Scratch that - that was Christians.

Genuinely curious now...

And don't millions of Arabs live peacefully within Israel as well?

(NOT trying to get in an argument - just am not aware of Jews living peacefully in other countries)

What do you think the Hamas is looking to achieve at the end of all this
unnecessary killing ?

What are their goals ?

I already linked to this :

Don't be fooled: Netanyahu and Hamas are on the same side - Telegraph

"Hamas’s ultimate aim is to "liberate" all the Palestinian land lost since 1948 – in other words, to wipe out Israel. Its nemesis isn’t Benjamin Netanyahu but the peace plan, widely accepted in the international community and based on UN Resolution 242, which envisages a Palestinian state on the West Bank and Gaza, living alongside Israel in peace.

Similarly Likud’s raison d’être is the concept of "Greater Israel" – that is, the conquest and retention of as much land in ‘Judea and Samaria’ (i.e. the occupied West Bank) as possible. Just like Hamas, its worst nightmare is an end to the conflict with the 1967 line recognised as the border between Israel and a new state of Palestine.

The extremists need each other so much because the peoples they lead don’t, on the whole, share their enthusiasm for these fantastical goals. Most Israelis care more about peace and security in the country they already have than trying to annex another one. And most Palestinians dream of a state of their own, not the obliteration of six million people next door."

You must be trolling us, nowhere did I say I support the authority of the UN, but Israel is a willing member of that group, which would suggest that they do.

The UN Human Rights Council "has adopted more resolutions condemning Israel than it has all other states combined."

How can we go forward without talking about a peace plan ah?

Btw, the Palestinians were nice enough to sell me beer on Yom Kippur and saved me an evening of boredom.
