Boston EMS is deploying a new, off-the-shelf, lightweight mobile device for the first time at the Boston Marathon on April 15.

The platform, from SafetyPAD, is intended for use in mass-casualty situations gives EMS personnel the ability to carry into crowds and assess a patient upon arrival, document in realtime, transmit data to transport units before they arrive, and other features.

Boston EMS will utilize the new Android-based program for bike and gator teams along race route.

It's a sad world we live in when you can't take your family to an event like this without worrying if everyone will come home safe and secure. Hopefully they find those responsible for this act and punish them severely, without letting politics and other bullshit lead the charge and try to push some group's personal agenda. (I know, I know... good luck with that!)
 
University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach, who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when a series of explosions went off, said he thought it was odd there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish lines.

“They kept making announcements on the loud speaker that it was just a drill and there was nothing to worry about,” Coach Ali Stevenson told Local 15. “It seemed like there was some sort of threat, but they kept telling us it was just a drill.”

Stevenson had just finished the marathon. His wife had been sitting in one of the seating sections where an explosion went off, but thankfully she left her seat and was walking to meet up with him.

“There was just smoke, another explosion went off,” Stevenson said. “We all started running. There were people crying.”

Stevenson said there was no question in his mind that this was an intentional act.

Local 15 News is talking with more locals who were taking part in the run. Tune in for live coverage beginning at 5 p.m.

There's some fucked up pictures on huffington post. A dude being pushed in a wheelchair with both legs shredded at the knees. Can't believe they posted those so quick. The guys family probably doesn't even know yet, would be a shitty way to find out.
 
This picture is very graphic and horrific however, there is such heroism as well it is worth posting:

The guy assisting in the grey T-Shirt is a 'Tough Rucker' Marathon Tough Ruck : Military Friends Foundation which means he is more then likely a soldier or former military. Tough Ruckers honor their fallen comrades by walking the Boston Marathon.

Also notice that he is holding a femoral artery in his hand in order to prevent further blood loss for the victim. Incredible courage and situational awareness at work. More then likely this is not the first time he had to do things like this...

My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of this horrible bombing.

That is just awful. Thank god we have good people that can step up and go above and beyond. It's men like that who make me proud to be an American.
