Buy a juicer

Update: Into my veggie blend I added a couple slices of avocado which seem to absorb the gritty pulpiness and makes it smoother. Much more palatable.

So now it's: Kale, spinach, carrot, ginger, celery, cucumber, avocado, lemon.

If anyone is ever juicing greens, you need a masticating juicer or else you're throwing about half of your money in the garbage.

Oh, and if you're blending, save yourself the trouble of cleaning the jar by blending in a mason jar:

Blending/Juicing is really all about minimizing clean up. Once you've gotten that figured out, you'll find yourself doing it way more often.

So my Nutribullet motor base broke, I think I over loaded it. Thing just started vibrating then stopped and it was dead basically. Nutribullet replaced it but it was a mother fucker trying to get ahold of support.

Just make sure you save your receipt + fill out warranty card. Got a new base and didn't even have to send my old one back, just threw it out.

use this for juicing. it's the best bang for the buck. macy just had a sale on this for $189 a few days ago but i did notice bedbath has it now for $259 (used to be $299) and you can tack on that 20% coupon there.

juicing i just use a simple formula (greens such as kale or spinach etc) + carrots + 1 apple + 1 beet. done. i'm still amazed how i get a boost of energy from the beet to the point i have to do it in the morning or any later i won't be able to sleep at night for some odd reason.

blending i use the vitamix. that's more complicated. same thing as above but you can add banana, oranges, pineapples, celery, etc and that's also where i toss in some flax seeds.

ofcourse the blending is more filling with the pulp. but more work (more stuff to prep - prepping takes the most time...cleaning with the omega is simple and quick).

Thanks to this thread I've joined the juicing bandwagon too. Picked up a super cheap $15 one in a sale and it does the job fine. If it breaks I'll upgrade to a masticating juicer but for now it works. So my advice to anyone on the fence about this (because of all the expensive machines mentioned in this thread) is just to buy the cheapest piece of shit juicer you can find to get you started. I'm finding I can put any combinations of vegetables in and the juice tastes fine as long as there is also an apple in there too.

Just ordered Philips HR1858 Juicer. Had this thread in mind since long and today finally ordered. I have primarily bought it to lose weight (me and my wifey) and for my father who is diabetic and have heart problems (had 1 blockage removed by angioplasty).

Bumping this thread as I see it's having recent posts too.

Is the high amount of sugar from juicing fine? Would this have any side effects in long term? Ideas?

Thanks

If you're going to juice all fruit then yes, you're essentially drinking sugar. Maximizing the effectiveness of a juicer means to juice those REALLY HEALTHY dark green veggies, add a little bit of fruit if you can't stomach the grass taste haha
