Buy a juicer

just add sugar, IDIOTS!

How is sugar going to mess up your blend? for one it will make your juice more tolerable and pleasant to drink.

Its not like you are losing the nutritional value of the juice because you added sugar. You still get all the nutrients along with some stuff that is bad for your body, just dont drink the soda or dont eat that candy bar that you usualy have after lunch.

I don't know, the "recipies" I made up taste alright to me. I don't like sugary stuff.

Then again, a lot of people say beer tastes terrible.

So far I've juiced 10 carrots, 4 apples, oranges, a pear, a kiwi, spinach, some tomatoes, some berries, onions and garlic, and a potato.

Now drinking: 6 carrots, 2 apples, 1 orange, 1 onion, 2 garlic bulbs, 2 tomatoes.

10 carrots, 6 carrots? WTF?!?

Waaaaaaaaay too much vitamin A and since it's fat-soluble (unlike vitamin C, for example, which is water-soluble), your body cannot dispose of it easily. It's great that you started eating more vegetables and fruits but don't get carried away.

Amazing thread guys... Buying a juicer now. Looks like the Omega is the choice.

What are your favorite morning/afternoon/evening blends?

Another thing. I have terrible allergies to everything non-food related (grass, pollen, dust, cats, etc)... I take medicine for it every day or every other day and it's really annoying. I'm not a big fan of pills.

Was anyone else in the same boat before juicing? If so, what sort have improvements have you seen if any?

Decided to look for a juicer after reading this thread, and I saw one that looked a bit familiar. I went to the kitchen and realized I already had it stored away in a kitchen cupboard. Don't ever remember getting it but anywho I got carried away like a little girl and juiced 10 apples and 3 pears. I drank half the juice and it made me feel dizzy and a bit sick. So dont get carried away ladies, you really dont need to absorb that much fruit and veg in a single day.

One carrot produces about 60ml/one peg of juice. Unless you plan on adding water or something else to increase the volume, that's what it takes. I think it's just fine, and far better than binging on alcoholic beverages. I haven't had any adverse effects so far, and my urine isn't yellow either as is the case with megadose multivitamins like Animal Pak etc- so the body must be absorbing it well enough. The recipe I mentioned makes about 1.2 litres of juice which I drink at one go.

10 apples? That's a lot of juice... How many glasses/litres did it yield?

For each vitamin, there are Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) which can help you make informed decisions. RDAs are developed by the Food and Nutrition Board at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. Are these calculations perfect? Of course not but the link I gave you is a decent starting point.

One raw carrot = 175% DV

In other words, one raw carrot gives you almost two times more vitamin A than you need. Now these values obviously vary based on age, weight and so on but let me ask you something: do you think that taking in 17 - 18 times more vitamin A than you need (10 carrots) is a good idea?

yh roughly 10 apples and a 2 or 3 pears... it almost filled up the juice jug which has a 1.5 litre capacity.

Tell this to Gerson clinic that has been successfully curing cancer for like 50 years now. A large part of Gerson diet is carrot-apple juice. If you are on a diet, you do around 10 lbs of carrots per day. =)))

Works like a miracle against cancer, diabetes, TB and virtually any other illness.

Yes, they will also tell you that the only way to cure cancer is by radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

What proof do you have that the Gerson therapy works better than radiation, chemotherapy and surgery, can you share some links?

No anecdotal evidence please.

Another question: in your opinion, is the Gerson therapy something that should complement mainstream treatments or something that should replace them?

The only advice I can give you is to stick with the juice. I bought a juicer 6 years ago, went great for 6-8 months, then I found it too much work to do so I gave it up

Fucking LOL, don't add sugar or shit to it, that underminds the whole point your jucing for, to get healthy. I have the Omega Vert and the pulp comes out dry as shit so if you serious about juicing regularly definitely drop a few more dollars and get one. Stick with the breville if you juice every few days. :2twocents:

Isn't the vitamin A that carrots produce from the beta cartene content? Which than gets converted to Vitamin A? I'm probably talking shit, but there raw foodist's who drink tons of juice and are fine. The only negative I've seen from drinking too much carrot juice is a condition called Carotenosis which gives the skin a slight orange tint, which some people could benefit from if their skin is pale.

As a couple have mentioned.... if you really get into it, experiment with a masticating juicer.

The heat from some of these mentioned in the thread kills the enzymes before it even enters your mouth. (they spin WAY to fast, like a blender)
