Call Fall military heroes?

This guys is someone who curls up on the couch on the weekend with some sugar free sorbet so he can watch a marathon of Lifetime movies. Spineless intellectual pussies shouldn't comment on anything they have never experienced. Unless you know what it is like to serve, be part of a brotherhood, to put your life on the line - then shut the fuck up. Those who serve don't ask to be called heroes, it is something the public has bestowed upon them as a sign of respect.

To say those that have been killed in service of their country aren't heroes, just makes you a douche. Even if you don't believe it, what does it accomplish? Trying to further your career and make a name for yourself makes you a terrible person.

No one said they were vermin. . . just pointing out that they signed up for a job that may result in them getting killed. . . is a cop a hero because he is a cop or is he a hero because he gets shot while rescuing a mom and her child?

All cops are cops

some cops save people's lives

some cops issue speeding tickets their whole life

Therefore not all cops are heroes

Same is true of our military right?

All marines are marines

some marines never see battle in their life.

some marines will save their fellow marines

some marines will piss on dead people

some marines will take pictures of prisoners in degrading ways

Therefore not all marines are heroes.

Yeah that's what makes people hero's. They took an oath to not only defend the constitution but to obay the orders of the President of the United Sates. They don't get to question the legality of the wars they go to, they made an oath to follow orders.

If during their time of voluntary service they are required to engage in combat for whatever reason they are a hero because they kept their word and didn't break their oath.
"Just following orders" wasn't a sufficient defense at Nuremberg.

Every man is responsible for his own actions.

I have giant snoopy, bugs bunny, and penis balloons which would you like for your hero parade?

The fact that I have honored my contracts has unfortunately meant that I've paid an awful lot of federal income taxes. So, however inadvertently, I've been clothing, feeding, and arming our precious soldiers for almost 20 years.

Who's the real hero?

When our soldiers kill innocents in foreign lands, the line that separates them from al Qaeda narrows to the point of becoming invisible.

Isn't it startling to think many Muslims were asking the same question about al Qaeda (i.e. "Are they heroes?")? That is, before the organization started hitting innocent Muslims.

The government for learning to take our money and buy guns with it?

Who wants to start a petition to memorialize our lawyers with me because they take an oath?

The real heroes, or people who should be remembered on Memorial day are all of the innocent people who have been bombed, raped, shot, tortured, imprisoned and murdered by soldiers and armies throughout history.

There is nothing honorable about being well armed and violent. Nothing noble about being in a brotherhood that can go around the world and dominate people who have done nothing wrong.

A good man protects his loved ones. He doesn't sail or fly around to other continents looking for fights or pushing around the locals.

Major General Smedley Butler was one of the most decorated Marines, and famously wrote, "War is a racket."

I recommend that anyone who maintains the delusion that the military is loaded with good guys doing heroic things, to read Smedley Butler's expose on what the American military does and why.

A soldier doesn't ask to be called a hero, but they should be given respect.

Everyone deserves a fair amount of respect. The 7-11 clerk deserves the same amount of respect a soldier does, the basic respect you should try and show all people, nothing more.

The guy was trying to be controversial and to further his career off the backs of dead service men. Some things don't need to be said because it accomplishes nothing.

I don't like that little faggot anymore than you, I'd love to punch those little hipster glasses right off his face, but I can't disagree with him about what he said.

I can't get behind the idea of a federal holiday to honor fallen soldiers for the same reason I can't get behind legislation that makes the murder of a police officer a capital crime. The implication that the lives of one group or class of citizens is more valuable than any other is appalling to me.

It is a fantastic read, and especially sobering given how little things have changed.
