DEBT CEILING DEFAULT

Plus, no way are soldiers going to fire at their own people or push any buttons to hurt em

Ok you got me. What does not increasing the debit ceiling have to do with defaulting on our loan payments?

The US still takes in enough money to pay the debit and fund around 60% of government activities.

Not raising the debit ceiling sounds good to me. Reducing our spending and getting rid of worthless (or worse) governmental functions should be good for both the country and individual citizens.

But what's more likely to happen is the cutting of funding on activities that would hurt the general citizenry the most and cause the greatest number of complaints and/or unrest (just like is being done now with the budget impasse).

If that isn’t enough to force raising the debit ceiling then the next round of pain would most likely be massive tax increases. And with the divide in congress expect very slimy backdoor tactics here and the most punishing of taxes that the administration can ooze out through our confusing mess of laws and regulations.

the US won't default.

they'll print themselves into oblivion, just like every banana republic with irresponsible joke-ass leaders. welcome to the hell you voted yourself into, morons.

(inb4: "oh not us, we're smarter than that, despite our accrued debt and laughably politicized system.")

I have a few friends in the US army who implied multiple times they would rather take their own lives than have to shoot on american citizens.

So you think that just because there are a few that wont it means that there wont be any that will? There were a few Nazi soldiers that helped jews but that didn't stop other soldiers from murdering millions of jews.

Like voting one way or the other would have made any difference.

If voting makes zero difference, then why is there even conflict? Shouldn't they be marching in lockstep?

You guys are so simplistic with your talking points that it's pathetic.

THE ILLUSION OF CHOICE

Ahh yes, it's a grand conspiracy by everyone involved to convince Joe Sixpack that they really do disagree. You see, in reality, everyone agrees that we should raise the debt ceiling, but they're playing out a big act for the sake of ... Joe Schmoe. Nobody knows why, and yes that seems incredibly idiotic, not to mention incredibly unnecessary, but hey, it's the theory we're rolling with, so let's go with it.

Anarcho-libertarianism! Join us and you'll forever sound like a retard!

There isn't an "illusion" of choice...
There is just NO CHOICE.

It's a "vote between one of the two candidates that we select for you and cram down your throats" election system.

When you see legal presidential candidates arrested for showing up at a presidential debate, simply because they aren't a member of one of the two party systems, it's not hard to see that we have no choice.

Clearly there is an illusion of it; if not, then hellboy up there would be alone in his stupidity.

You people sound like complete and utter nutjobs. There is a very real disagreement currently occurring in Washington; Boehner will cave, but there is a growing faction within the Republican Party that is openly defying him.

You're the equivalent of the homeless man, drooling in the corner saying "everyone is the same" because it excuses him from actually paying attention to the situation and discerning the nuances of it.

I will be surprised to see if Boehner has the votes for his proposal, personally. There is no need to convince the populace of anything, because the citizenry don't have the power to affect the politicians. Isn't that what you people are always saying? That there's no point in voting, because there's no difference between the politicians? And yet for some reason, you simpletons say the politicians try to pretend they're different in order to stop the people from... voting. It's all very circular and illogical.

Don't worry hellboy, you'll never go on my ignore list.. Your rants are too much fun!

Oh, I'm very sure it's quite different this time... Surely the outcome will make the state smaller this time, or make the people more free, right?

I mean, if that option isn't even on the table, then why would anyone be interested in what anyone in DC ever says? No matter how it's formatted, every single time all you get is bad news.

Surely that's a bit more logical than your circle is:

Of course, since no politician runs on a platform of abolishing government, why, they must all be the same!

Thank you for illustrating to the world how utterly insane and extremist your faction is.

Meanwhile, in RealityLand, my prediction proved correct: Boehner doesn't have the votes.

Wow, I said smaller government, a typical repugnican slogan (that is 100% lies) but somehow you interpret that as abolition?

Of course I'd prefer abolition, no doubt, but since you yourself would want a smaller government I made that example above for people like yourself. If you can't face the facts that no elected official is ever going to remove a single law off the books then don't go calling us crazy extremist factions for not lowering our expectations down to the depths of where yours reside.

can you spot on this graph which president said his top priority was income inequality?

While no one in their right mind LIKES the fact that the debt is growing, just posting the raw numbers without accounting for inflation or at least growth in GDP is just silly. And in case you can't tell, the growth is tapering off.
