I made my daily rounds today on the left wing idiot blogs to see what the fools are up to. I saw several discussions stating that Thomas Jefferson was athiest. Why do liberals push this? I understand that they grasp frantiically for evidence that at least one founding father was athiest but it just isn't there. I present just another quote from the great Thomas Jefferson, proving that he believed in God just like the rest of the founders did. Damn you lib idiots are fuckin stupid

""God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; That a revolution of the wheel of fortune, a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in that event."

Thomas Jefferson

Well, I think that arguing for or against God is, well, a waste of fucking time, and I studied philosophy. I couldn't care less if there is a God or not. And I'm not sure why you waste your time patrolling liberal blogs and then, out of anger, create a thread that is sure only to do one thing- create a troll-fest.

Who the fuck cares if Jefferson was an atheist or not? How does this affect your life? It doesn't.

He wasn't Atheist or Christian..he was a Deist. He believed in God, but not the trinity or Jesus as the savior. There's plenty of evidence of this.

There is a quote of him stating that he is a Christian. I will post if you are unfamiliar?

He's not using "God" in a traditional sense.

no?

"Among the sayings and discourses imputed to him by his biographers, I find many passages of fine imagination, correct morality, and of the most lovely benevolence; and others, again, of so much ignorance, of so much absurdity, so much untruth and imposture, as to pronounce it impossible that such contradictions should have proceeded from the same being. I separate, therefore, the gold from the dross, restore to him the former, and leave the latter to the stupidity of some and the roguery of others of his disciples"

NO...he did state that he is a Christian. I am not a radical, so it matters not to me. It just pisses me off that the little kid liberals of today accept ANYTHING they read on the internet. Learn to read real books and learn to think for yourself.

in response to the title of the thread --
oh, i get it. there are liberals, and there are idiots, and there are liberal idiots, so being a liberal must CAUSE idiocy!

why didn't we think of this before? all idiocy can be cured by hanging liberals! the world will be a perfect place, once we purge it of them!

in response to the body of the thread --
[this space intentionally left blank, because idonotgiveafuck, and you're all obviously arguing over NOTHING that is relevant to ANYTHING, nor is ANYONE IN THIS THREAD TRYING TO PROVE ANY POINT AT ALL*]

*fuck, i'm just as guilty as all of you

Am I correct in thinking that Jefferson is speaking of Jesus and the "discourses IMPUTED to him by his BIOGRAPHERS . . .", and not of God himself? In other words, he's speaking of what was WRITTEN of him and drawing a conclusion from ONLY what was written of him?

There is a quote of him stating that he is a Christian. I will post if you are unfamiliar?

"In summary, then, Jefferson was a deist because he believed in one God, in divine providence, in the divine moral law, and in rewards and punishments after death; but did not believe in supernatural revelation. He was a Christian deist because he saw Christianity as the highest expression of natural religion and Jesus as an incomparably great moral teacher. He was not an orthodox Christian because he rejected, among other things, the doctrines that Jesus was the promised Messiah and the incarnate Son of God. Jefferson's religion is fairly typical of the American form of deism in his day." - Avery Dulles, Theologian

He also said of the New Testament, that it was "so much untruth, charlatanism and imposture."

"I am anxious to see the doctrine of one god commenced in our state. But the population of my neighborhood is too slender, and is too much divided into other sects to maintain any one preacher well. I must therefore be contented to be an Unitarian by myself, altho I know there are many around me who would become so, if once they could hear the questions fairly stated" - Thomas Jefferson

He rejected the idea of the Trinity from normal Christianity. He believed in God, he did not believe that Jesus was the son of God and the savior.

"Jefferson remained a member of the Episcopal congregation near his home, but removed himself from those available to become godparents, because he was not sufficiently in agreement with the Trinitarian theology. His work, the Jefferson Bible, was Unitarian in theology"

Yes, read the bible, a book entirely made up of stories, and let your world view and way of life be greatly influenced by these stories. This, surely, is thinking for yourself.

End of Troll.

Fuck this thread. Get money, get paid, and stop dicking around pretending that someone on the internet actually gives a fuck.

Open your mind fool. I have never pushed christianity in this thread. I simply stated that Thomas Jefferson was NOT an athiest and most of the liberal children push the opposite. Anyone that will actually read the history of T.J instead of accepting history from the comments on Huffington Post and other leftfucked blogs will be more enlightined then most.

Well, I do believe, fellow fool, that our good friend PapaJohn has put this argument to rest. That is all, sir.

Not to mention that I am not the one who created a thread entitled "Does Liberalism Make You Fucking Stupid?" You may be the one who needs to open your mind, after all. Fool.

“The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man.”
“Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have come under my observation, none appears to me so pure as that of Jesus.”
"I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus." [Letter to Benjamin Rush April 21, 1803]
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” [Notes on the State of Virginia, 1781]
“It [the Bible] is a document in proof that I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus."
[Jan 9, 1816 Letter to Charles Thomson]

Quotes from Thomas Jefferson

Oh well, I wasn't posting about his Christanity..just that he wasn't an athiest.....but if you insist. Understand my fellow fool, that I am posting this higher than a fuckin kite. I am a Christian but not a very good one but not only did T.J. believe in God he also believed in Jesus.

The Huffington Post & Co. speak no more for the left than Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin speak for the right. Yes, they all have huge followings. No, it is not correct to assume that all liberals & conservatives are represented by the afore-mentioned.

And no one gives a fuck if Jefferson was an Atheist or not. Except for dumb tards who think a dead man's religous views of 300 years ago should influence American politics today.
