Any tips for getting rid of a gut?

The strange thing is I work out 3x per week and run 1x per week for an hour... gut is bigger on some days than others.

I'm happy with every other part of my body but not my waist. I also try to eat salad/fruit at lunch almost every day, but gut is still fat sometimes. Too much subway maybe?

Seems hard to get rid of. I'm about 205 lbs... and around 6".

I do sit at the computer for 8 hrs a day, so that can't help.

Stubborn fat. It's like your body has a last ditch reserve which it will only use in emergencies. For men it is usually the gut, for women the hips. To get rid of it you need to hit a low fat percent in general as it is likely the last fat to come off.

Lyle McDonald has a book about getting rid of stubborn fat, but it only really matters when you're down to low bodyfat percentages.

Do you lift weights or do cardio?

Fructose is the most readily available source for energy. Its being metabolized almost instantaneously. Right before ogygenation, calories always enter a form of fructose. Proteins, for example, have to go through a 20something step process. In the end, 100grams of protein provide as much energy as 58grams of sugar.

The body is producing energy from fat storage round the clock. That mechanism is being fucked with when you ingest sugars. By getting excess sugar into your system, the body needs to release insuline which ends gluconeogenesis.

Assuming you dont work out really hard, youre most likely not on a caloric deficit. As long as youre not on a caloric deficit, you wont lose fat unless you allow your body to perform gluconeogenesis. That means no insuline. That means no sugar. Especially bread.

Most vegetables, on the other hand, contain carbohydrates but not sugars. Those can be oxygenated but dont spike insuline.

Eat healthy and your fat will vanish.

If you somehow believe that your body clings to its fat, put an ice pack on your neck for half an hour, once a day. Gets you into shiver mode which triggers the release of stored fat.

Sounds like it is time to start keeping a food journal. You need to track how many calories, carbs, proteins, and fats you're consuming per week.

First do that and then from there you can better formulate a dietary game plan.

Just quit fucking worrying and have some pride in it, mate.
