GG Romney

Basically saying you don't represent 47% of the US when you are running for president of the entire US is an extremely stupid thing to say.

It's not what he said and the media/dems would like to twist it.

He said they won't VOTE for him and that his message will never REACH them.

There is a bit of a difference...

So many people on this forum preach that the two party system is an illusion of choice and that a small group of the elite control the country no matter who their poster child is..and then in the same breath start getting into Obama vs Romney arguments and defending/attacking their respective politics.

The same sort of (lack of) logic that angry girls use in arguments is apparently applied by keyboard political commentators. That's why I don't engage any of you crazy bitches.

29% independent voters say now less likely to vote Romney, 15% now more likely

Don't think he was being serious when he said that. He was taking a light-hearted dig at the Black vote Obama is all but guaranteed to get >90pc of.

John Kerry got about the same percent of the black vote.

Geraldo Rivera: Mitt's Mexican Roots | Fox News Latino

"To suggest that if his name was, say, Mitt Rivera he’d be having an easier time winning Latino hearts and minds demonstrates his lack of understanding of the community.

Brain Sandoval in Nevada and Susana Martínez in New Mexico are both Hispanic Republican governors, but neither won the Latino vote in their respective states.

Marco Rubio did better, but even the charismatic senator did not win a Latino majority in Florida.

Policy matters.

And if the GOP doesn’t alter its policies, then the political doomsday scenario imagined by Gov. Romney of Latinos becoming as monolithically Democrat as African-Americans will come to pass."

Oving E=Wiloving e;1869678]I don't think Romney said anything different than you hear on Limbaugh or this forum every day. So he prob didn't hurt any standing with his base. He possibly hurt some with independents/moderates but who knows. It's more that the media has decided this is a defining event so they're hyping it like crazy.[/QUOTE]

They are loving this over at the conservative blogs I read. Base support can be relied upon, this election will be decided by independents.

Gallup poll today shows 47-47.

Those results are based on September 12-18. Sep 19-25 will give a better idea of any impact from Romney's comments.

Also, Romney led some of the overall Gallup polls in August, but they still had him losing in the swing states.

Yeah, it's in the bag for Obama.

Tracking polls mean nothing. This election will be decided by 6 states - Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Iowa. Romney needs to win all 6 of them. He's currently losing all of them. FiveThirtyEight gives Obama a 76% chance of victory, with a likely 308-230 electoral college total. It's not guaranteed, but as long as he get caught with a dead girl or a live boy, he will more likely than not cruise into a second term.

There was a great article earlier today that shows how likely it is that many polls may be tilting too much toward Republicans by not counting cellphone-only households at all or using too little of a correction to compensate for them.

All of Romney's gaffes this week, including the hilarious assertion that he put on "fake tan" bronzer before appearing on Telemundo in order to appear more appealing to Hispanics, is all political theater. Yeah, it's ultimately bullshit that nobody really ought to find surprising. But every day Romney fucks around is another day lost for him to try to catch up. His campaign has been horribly run.

Polls in Pennsylvania keep pointing to an Obama blowout, so it looks like I'll be voting for Jill Stein anyway. That must grind WickedFire's collective gears, huh?
