Yup, I actually studied advertising at a faculty of economics and dropped out because I saw it was nonsense even back then.
It's pure mental masturbation devoid of any real world applicable information. But then again, that holds true for college in general... I should have known better.
Hopefully other branders will follow so one day the CPCs will drop back down to levels that aren't laughable.
